French chef Lim Yoon-ah prepares a dish that risked her life for King Lee Chae-min.
tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “The Tyrant’s Chef” (directed by Jang Tae-yu, scripted by fGRD, planned studio dragon, production film drawing, Jeong Yu-nibus) is a survival fantasy romantic comedy drama that takes place when a time-slip chef meets the king, the worst tyrant and the owner of an absolute taste.
Ahead of the first broadcast in August, the chef and tyrant posters and the first Sura posters have been released, heralding a special meeting between chef Yeon Ji-young (Im Yoon-ah) and Wang Lee Hun (Lee Chae-min).
First of all, it draws attention with the contrast between Yeon Ji-young and Lee Heon, who will skip the long years in the poster of the first sura and meet in the same era. Yeon Ji-young’s white chef’s uniform, which is devoted to cooking with a confident smile, forms a sense of alienation in the middle of Suragan where the succincts are busy running between the basket of ingredients and the complex of seasoning.
Below the poster is Lee Hun sitting on a brilliant throne. Like the phrase, “Let’s prepare the best surasang that even tyrants will never forget in their lives,” he looks satisfied in front of the surasang filled with various kinds of mountaineering beauty. Food that boasts a subtle combination of Korean food and Western food stimulates mouthwatering.

On the other hand, the chef and tyrant posters released together show a closer look at Yeon Ji-young and Lee Heon’s inner thoughts. I’ve dreamed of becoming a chef… The phrase “I became the chef of a tyrant today” gives us an idea of Yeon Ji-young’s feelings, who suddenly fell into the suragan of the past.

On the other hand, Lee Heon reveals the dignity of the tyrant with a brutal threat, “If it doesn’t suit my taste even for one day, I will face extreme punishment.” Yeon Ji-young, who has become a “tyrant’s chef,” is paying attention to whether she can satisfy the tricky taste of Wang Yi-heon, who is extremely sensitive to taste.
As such, “The Tyrant’s Chef” will satisfy viewers’ five senses by depicting the unique relationship between a chef who has to prepare a feast for survival and a gourmet king who holds the life of such a chef in his hand. Expectations are high for the delicious chemistry that the chef, who has to risk his life to make food, and the taste-friendly king will make together.
“Just as ingredients with different tastes come together to create delicious harmony, the synergy between Yeon Ji-young, who lived in modern times, and Lee Hun, who lived in the past, will provide a different taste,” the production team of “The Tyrant’s Chef” said. “We are working hard to comfort the souls of viewers and make them taste better, so please look forward to it.”
“The Tyrant’s Chef” will premiere in August.
