BEREA, Ky. (WKYT) – Boone Tavern’s reimagined dining room and bar are now open!
Not only did the space get a facelift over the last few months, but the menu did too.
The beloved hotel and restaurant celebrate Berea’s heritage and artistic community.

“A lot of hotels, it’s an amenity, and if you’re in a hurry, you eat at the restaurant. Here, it’s part of the experience,” said Boone Tavern General Manager Melissa McGuire.
“Crafted at Boone Tavern” is now welcoming guests for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“As beautiful as this space was before, I really feel like this space has more history,” said McGuire.
Boone Tavern has been open since 1909.
“It was originally built for the people who were coming to Berea College. Then, of course, now it is a fully operational hotel,” said McGuire.
For a long time, the restaurant was white tablecloth dining. Melissa McQuire says while it was pretty, they wanted to freshen up the space with a more contemporary design. Like
“We truly tried to keep some of the character. Like, the floors are the original floors. What we’re noticing is everyone is just amazed with the decor,” said McGuire.
This is because every piece of art on the walls is handcrafted by Berea college students. Even the pottery center pieces on the tables. They’re
“It’s not just a matter of everybody walking in and sitting at their table. They’re actually wanting to take a walk around.”
With the remodel came the tavern’s first full-service bar, private dining space, and a new, farm-to-table menu created by chef Kyle Klatka. Don’t worry, spoonbread will still be served! Folks
Folks at Boone Tavern say they do recommend making reservations if you want to dine with them.
