The Bakist

If you are looking for a peaceful café to study, spend time with friends, or delight in an energizing latte, The Bakist is for you. This adorable café sells not only pastries and coffees, but also quirky knickknacks. They also serve breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and toast. Their cream cheese avocado toast tastes fresh and smooth, topped with tomato, pesto, and feta. Additionally, they offer several coffee flavors. The BayNet is particularly fond of the caramel and white chocolate options. Both have a rich, subtle taste of their flavoring while maintaining just the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate croissant is filled with their creamy ganache, tasting velvety and sweet. This café is spacious and cozy, making it perfect for a pleasant summer morning.

Baia Coastal Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar

As you head into North Beach from Chesapeake Beach, you’ll find Baia nestled right on the waterfront — the perfect place to enjoy outdoor dining and savor their flavor-packed gnocchi, a favorite among The BayNet team. Their fennel sausage and ricotta dumplings combined are like heaven on a plate. Baia’s appetizers are also masterfully varied, with to-die-for seasoned fries and briny, chargrilled oysters that sit just right on the tongue. Their staff is knowledgeable and precise when addressing questions and concerns, and they do everything possible to ensure your experience is the best it can be. The scene itself is gorgeous, the interior is vibrantly modern, and the outdoor seating is beautifully laid out. Overall, Baia checks all the boxes when it comes to a tasteful summer dinner.

Hook & Vine – Kitchen and Bar

Hook and Vine is yet another North Beach gem, offering several delicious land and sea options, as well as unique beverages. You will not want to miss this spot. For an appetizer, The BayNet landed on the bruschetta, and the balance of juicy diced tomatoes and peppery basil was deeply fulfilling. The balsamic glaze is the icing on the cake, making it overall a fantastic choice. We tried their blackberry lemonade, which tasted earthy and refreshing. It had a hint of lavender and was fairly bittersweet. The atmosphere is easygoing and has a familiar, welcoming environment. For entrées, the fish tacos are, without a doubt, incredible. Their tangy slaw and mouthwatering pineapple pico complete this entrée. But if you are not looking for seafood, try out one of their pastas or their chicken sandwich. This handheld is perfectly blackened with the standard lettuce, tomato and onion setup, but the spicy mayo adds a flawless finishing touch. If you are looking for a taste of Maryland near the water, visit Hook and Vine.

City Sliders Steakhouse at the Westlawn Inn

City Sliders is a fusion cuisine restaurant that offers a variety of sliders and seafood. The interior seamlessly blends sophistication with comfort, and here they successfully serve up mouthwatering food. For starters, their seared ahi tuna is a colorfully decorated plate that provides an oceanic taste, savory and slightly salty in all the right ways. When visiting, do not miss out on their enticing ribeye steak sliders. The buns on these sliders are shiny and perfectly buttered. The peppers and onions on this thinly sliced ribeye deliver a burst of flavor like no other. These entrées come with two palm-sized sliders and fries, so we recommend trying more than one option to get the best experience. We were also a fan of their buffalo chicken sliders, which are complemented with blue cheese. But don’t let their various options of sliders distract you from the excellent wood-fired steaks as well. This restaurant is for everyone, offering a diverse menu with numerous options to choose from. Be sure to add this restaurant to your list.

Cold Penguin Ice Cream

If you tend to crave a sweet treat after a long day, head to Cold Penguin Ice Cream. Their menu is filled with a wide range of traditional ice cream flavors, such as chocolate and cookies and cream, as well as more complex options like strawberry cheesecake and cappuccino crunch. The sizes are excellently portioned and flawlessly scooped. The strawberry cheesecake ice cream was creamy, fruity and delectable. The cappuccino crunch tasted just like your daily cup of coffee, but transformed into a refreshing sugary indulgence. This parlor is conveniently located right across from the boardwalk, making it an excellent place to take in the scenic views of North Beach while enjoying a post-meal delight.
