Suntory Strong Zero started to sell in the US but 5% alcohol according to US rules. What do you think? 5% alcohol still can call strong Zero???

  1. it’s not really strong zero at all. it’s just another product sold by the same brand. like when soda companies try new products.

It might seem weak, but you get a 4 pack I think it’s like the same as 2 Strong zeros and yeah… That’s enough to do it

It’s not Strong Zero, it’s a vodka seltzer with iirc 5% abv. It’s just marketed as Strong Zero. It’s been in NYC for quite a while and I don’t think people have been biting.

“Crafted”.? Yeah, by blind virgin artisan maidens from early morning dew taken from the slopes of Mt. Fuji.

    >5% ABV according to US rules

Is that for taxation purposes? IIRC even nastier drinks like Four Loko is still legal.

Does the US Strong Zero significantly differ in calories? One of the best parts of Strong Zero in Japan is how, despite being sweet and heavy on alcohol, it was relatively low calories (likely due to artificial sweeteners).

Less legit than the “Kobe-style” beef sold in the US.

They have good flavor but they aren’t 9% so just overpriced white claws lol

  9. The point of Strong Zero is to get you extremely drunk, extremely fast, extremely cheaply (with zero calories). If it doesn’t do that, it’s not Strong Zero.

  10. Semi strong? Limp strong? I miss them so much that when I’m in Seattle I buy Sochu so I can make my own lemon sours, but it doesn’t compare to Strong Zero!

  11. I talked to a rep at Head in the Clouds and the low ABV% is due to legal classification liquor for tax purposes. Sad we likely won’t ever get a real Strong Zero, but this and Maruhi aren’t the worst substitutes

Clearly this is -196, which is a different product with its own name. Both-196 and Strong Zero are a kind of drink called “chu-hai”.

  13. We’ve got the lemon and grapefruit versions of this in the UK at 6% which is weaker than the OG.

Decent but if what others are saying is true about it not being authentic, that’s fairly standard practice in the alcohol industry… They’re selling a brand, not the original product. .

Can’t wait to try the actual one in Japan next year.

  14. Freak_Out_Bazaar

-196 in Japan comes in 4%, 7% and 9% (Strong Zero), so this one’s definitely not Strong Zero but also not the weakest one either

What a butchery of the strong zero name 😔 not a chuhai and half as strong what a nerf

  16. KingCarnivore

The ones they sell in New Orleans are 6%, they’re also $6 for 4. ($21 for 8 is nuts)

They’re not as good as the ones in Japan but they’re a decent substitute.

  17. hallow1820

Its been available in my area for at least 6 months

  18. Conscious-Cut-3620

Many people in Japan have become alcoholic because of this. it’s called “Unless person maker”. Please take care.

  19. HiroProtagonist1984

I wish it were anything like the real deal but it’s just not. Way sweeter and weaker.

I’ve been buying the lemon flavor since I got back in May, but it’s not the same.
