A full English breakfast and pizza are some of Brits’ most beloved meals. But what if you mix them up into one single dish?

That’s exactly what one British foodie set out to discover after his week-long visit to Italy. Known as Shef Phoenix to his large following of 201,300 on TikTok, he shared his culinary experiment of transforming the classic full English breakfast – which included beans, eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, and tomatoes – into a pizza. His fusion meal quickly had Italians horrified yet oddly fascinated, while British viewers were quick to say they wanted to try his creation.

“I’m a very British guy, but I just spent a week in Italy and I’m trying to make sure they never invite me back. And I’m doing that by bastardising and combining two national dishes,” he said before revealing: “So today, we’re making a full English pizza.”

“I’d say the most in a full English is the beans,” he said as he was seen warming up a tin of beans in a pan before, stirring in some grated cheese.

“And the trickiest part about making a full English pizza is how to incorporate the beans,” he said. However, he seemed to cracked it, as he was seen spooning the bean mixture onto parchment paper in a ring shape, leaving the centre clear, and then putting it in the freezer until it was frozen solid.

For the tomatoes, he opted for roasting them with a sprinkle of herbs and spices, later mashing them into a rich tomato sauce for his pizza base.

“Guys, can we talk about how much sense this actually makes?” he said while slicing mushrooms and frying them in a pan. “If you really think about it, a full English is just a deconstructed pizza. Once you combine all the ingredients of a full English onto a piece of toast, which most people will do while they’re eating it, you’re basically making a mini pizza on your fork.”

He proceeded to fry up black pudding alongside a sausage and a strip of bacon, before he chopped them into bite-sized chunks. With the prep out of the way, it was time to put together the pizza.

He began by rolling out his homemade pizza dough into a large, thin circle, ensuring it was slightly larger than desired. He then placed his frozen been ring in the centre of the dough, then folded the edges over to create a bean-stuffed crust.

Next, he spooned on his homemade tomato pizza sauce, followed by scattering the bacon, sausage, black pudding, and mushrooms on top before blanketing everything with grated cheese.

“I also brushed the crust with butter to better emulate the toast,” he explained, before introducing the final touch: cracking an egg right in the centre of the pizza, just before sliding it into his pizza oven.

“And look, I understand, I did make this as a gag. But I’m honestly starting to come around to it,” he confessed, as viewers watched him slice up the inventive pizza and take an eager first bite.

“Mm, I’m not mad about it. I actually think I like it. I’d make it again,” he declared after sampling his own culinary experiment.

The comments section exploded with thousands weighing in; while many were appalled by the pizza, a surprising number were tempted to give it a go.

An intrigued comment from an Italian read: “Hey I’m Italian and I’m… actually pretty interested in that,” while someone else couldn’t contain their enthusiasm: “The f**king things I would do to get my f**king hands on that.”

Another Italian commenter mixed fear with admiration: “As an Italian i fear you and respect you,” while another Italian weighed in and said: “As an Italian for me the most controversial ingredient for a breakfast would be black pudding.”

Meanwhile, another person expressed their dismay: “This is actually pretty upsetting.”
