I see that these guys are doing a second pop-up this month, so I thought I'd post my experience from the last pop-up. Don't see a lot of posts of Affinity Fish's dinner menus, and I thought I captured some decent pics.
I am a fan of what Affinity Fish is doing food wise, and admittedly while I would probably prefer to drink whiskey neat instead of in cocktail format, I was curious enough to check this out when the first pop-up occured. Mizunara though is a new Japanese whiskey bar that will be opening at some point in the future, I believe in the Financial District. Ticket for the event was 250.
I'm not going to comment on the cocktails since I'm not a huge cocktail guy, but I'll comment on the food.
- Burbot Liver Monaka – The burbot liver is essentially an attempt to create a Canadian version of ankimo. Not as rich as ankimo, but still tasty.
- Sashimi Plate – IIRC Smoked Lake Trout, BC Spot Prawn, and BC Octopus.
- Steamed Georgian Whitefish in Sake Seurre Blanc sauce – This was most people's favourite I believe. I've had this before on a previous menu.
- Grilled Shio Koji Lamb Rack – First time having a non-fish protein from Affinity Fish.
- Rice Meal with Mussels, Squid and Uni – My favourite course of the meal personally.
- Pineapple Cremeux on top of Matcha Ganache – Not much to say here. Meal lasted 2+ hours IIRC, and spent a lot of time talking to people. You get some swag at the end too from the Mizunara crew.
Full menu on the second last image with descriptions of the cocktails as well.
