TOWNSEND — The lawn party at the Townsend Military Band’s next concert, to be held from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, on the common, will benefit renovations to Kids Kountry Playground.
The playground is located behind Spaulding Memorial School, on the corner of Eastman Street and Turnpike Road.
“It is hoped that many people will support this fundraising effort to improve the playground by attending the concert and lawn party,” said Betty Mae Tenney, Band Concert Coordinator.
Townsend Cemetery and Parks Department personnel will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs to sell to concertgoers. Cheeseburgers, limited veggie burgers, fried dough, popcorn, chips, and cold soda and bottled water will also be available for purchase.
“A variety of home baked goods will also be available for a donation,” Tenney added.
Young people attending the concert will want to visit the children’s game area set up on the common that evening.
The Townsend Military Band will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing Paul Lavender’s arrangement of the “Raiders March” and the “Beer Barrel Polka” arranged by Donald Broeniman. The band will conclude its concert at 9:30 p.m. with the “Star Spangled Banner”.
