I’ve been working on these for a few years now. Before firing in the kiln there is a tiny hole in that feature near the rim. This fills with glaze at ~2000 degrees F making a completely sealed air gap for insulation. They hold about 300ml.

Cool project and good to see the project progress.

Absolutely awesome ! That’s the kind of content I joined this community for.

Really interesting project. Are you building your slipcasting “robots” yourself? I find that aspect of the work as interesting as the final form of the vessel.

Looks good. Is it a way to make it smaller? Maybe something around 2-3 oz?

Size seems too big for espresso, great for lungo/americano though and awesome to see the process.

How do they stand up to washing machine cycles? As I doubt they would be vacuum inside right? (I have 0 experience making cups or mugs, just curious 🙂 )

why do you keep cutting them in half!! its not gonna work as a cup then!

  7. filthynines

Definitely far too big for espresso.

But they look great, and I’m really pleased that somebody has made an alternative to the horrible plastic ones that have been available for a few years.

    I wish you success!

Impressive. It would appear that you designed (printed) your turning and dipping components, yes?

This is really cool!! Did you build machinery yourself?

This is really good for milk drinks which tend to cool down too quickly. But it’s not really good for espresso as it is way too big of course.

This is fascinating. Thanks for sharing

Way too large for espresso, but I really dig your setup! Very nice!

Perfect gift for my wife who likes her milk drinks and matcha lattes. I just backed it. Hope you make your goal! And put me in the list when you do espresso cups too!

Wish I could afford to support you, these are so fucking cool!

Awesome! Great engineering work. And THANK YOU for not covering up the awesome machine noises with music or doing different speeds of video (basically you didn’t tik tok it).

I’ll check out your products and may order some!

To me this seems more like a cup for a latte or other milk based drink, personally I think 300ml is too small.

Now that’s the dream for hot coffee.

  18. JacksOnF1re

Why is everybody here saying it’s too big for espresso? While it’s true, you do all forget about espresso based drinks? 300ml rather huge, but can be nice for a double shot caffee latte.

  19. I’ve been following this project and every step has been very impressive and informative. Great process development.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, and I think the size is perfect for a double shot latte. I may have missed it, but how do I find the Kickstarter?
