The lid came loose when moving the Kamado (I only just now read about tightening the ring regularly), and the slot in the ceramic that the ring pin fits into cracked. According to what I found on this topic previously, it sounds like there’s no way to repair, or is my situation not as bad, so I attempt to glue the ceramic back on?

Contact Kamado Joe, you can’t fix that.

There’s no harm in trying to fix it. If the crack is superficial and on the outside you may be able to maintain a seal. I have a similar issue with mine though the damage is not quite as severe as this.

I intend to re attach the bands and fill the crack with high heat fireplace cement. Then I’ll do some burns to see if I’ve got any smoke escaping. Worst case scenario I lose $5 on the cement and a couple hours of effort. Best case I save $500 on a new bottom ceramic.

I’ve had two base cracks in the last 14 months. Not sure if quality control has gone down hill, but it seems much more common recently.
