For the cake: 6 oz unsalted butter 125 grams Hershey’s special dark cocoa 1 shot of espresso (4 oz) 4 oz warm water 8 oz buttermilk 8 oz full fat coconut milk 300 grams light brown sugar 300 grams granulated sugar 3 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 315 grams AP flour 12 grams baking powder 6 grams baking soda 6 grams kosher salt
-Set oven to 350F -Butter and flour 3 8 inch pans -In a medium pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter and sift in the cocoa powder and stir until fully combined -add espresso, water, and both milks to the pot and stir to combine -stir in eggs, sugars, and vanilla and make sure the mixture is completely smooth -turn off stove and set pot aside -combine dry ingredients in a large bowl -pour contents of pot over dry ingredients and whisk to combine -pour into prepared pans and bake for 38-40 minutes
For the chocolate ganache: just did equal parts heavy cream and semi sweet chocolate to make a ganache and added a pinch of salt. I made this first so it could cool to a spreadable consistency.
I love that it looks like a simple slightly messy cake with a funny sign – but it’s actually a hella fancy delicious cake! That looks SO good!! 👏✨️💖

Not only would I’d eat that ravenously, I’d probably ask for more if there were any leftover slices.

Love the shine!!! The cake esp in the second pic looks so yummy. Great that you put a layer of buttercream under the chocolate Ganache. Great buttercream to cake ratio. I’d smash!!!
