I know there more efficient ways of doing this, but if it’s stupid and it works it’s not stupid

I love absolutely love fried chicken thighs, but the grease smell can really permeate the house, this was able to get me my fix without the downside

time consuming? sure, inefficient? probably, crispy juicy and delicious? definitely

Better than doing it inside on a stove. If a fire happens your house is safe.

Hell yeah, and the cleanup is way easier.

is there a reason to not put the skillet over an open flame?

    Either way looks delicious

  4. I’ve started doing more pan seared dishes outside using the searing burner. Don’t have to worry as much about smoke or splatter.

Even smarter when frying fish this way. You don’t have to deal with the lingering smell.

Yep I have a 2 burner camp stove. Makes very quick work of frying with no mess or smell in the house

My wife doesn’t let me fry chicken or fish in the house anymore. I may have to try this.

  10. I’m glad I’m not the only one my oven crapped out a week before Easter (burned up contact for heating element) and we couldn’t afford a new oven. I suggested using the grill. I made bacon (DELICIOUS) and grilled a large ham (also delicious). It wasn’t the most efficient way but everything came out great. The day after Easter I got the new parts & fixed the oven, go figure

Do you have a recipe that you follow? The skin looks absolutely stellar.

While I don’t disagree with the “if it works, it works” mentality…if you plan on this being a regular occurrence, consider getting a small portable induction burner. I take mine outside all the time to do stuff I’d prefer not stinking up my house. It’s small enough to stash out of the way, is super responsive, and gives you an extra thing to use come holidays when space is at a premium.
