So I am trying to decide between weber and recteq. My previous grill would often overshoot temps by 70 degrees which I thought was too much. So I am conflicted between Weber searwood and recteq. I've seen youtube videos such as these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unm5ZHM_bME
The consensus from the video seems to be that the recteq has slightly more smoke flavor vs the searwood that somehow has the meat more tender and juicy. Is there anyone that has used both that would agree?
Among the weber I am also torn between the searwood and the smoque. I already have a gas weber. So I am not super concerned about the ability to sear. I know that the smoque is a tad cheaper, and is also designed to "smoke" better. However, according to these videos the consensus seems to differ and saying that the searwood actually has more smoke flavor than the smoque. Even though the smoque is supposed to circulate the smoke better be design. But smoke flavor still seems to favor the searwood although you can actually see more smoke on the smoque.

Does anyone have first hand experience between the smoque vs searwood?

I think you’re splitting hairs. Weber has cooler accessories if you like that stuff. I don’t care for recteq since I think they’re overpriced for what they are, but it’s a solid pellet grill. Put them both in a hat and draw one out.
I recently went down this same path, about 2 weeks ago. Even watched the same videos!
IMO you cannot go wrong with either the Searwood or Recteq. I was considering the Deck Boss 800
I ended up going with the Searwood because I also have a Spirit EP-425 and most of the accessories fit both of the grills so I would not have to purchase multiples. In addition, the Searwood has the rotisserie whereas the Recteq does not and I am planning to use that.
I previously had a first gen Smokefire and I went thru all the issues, auger replacement, controller replacement, auger jams, flame outs, etc and after 5 years, I decided to throw in the towel. I was hesitant about going with Weber again, but all the research that I did showed that they really nailed it with the Searwood.
I’ve done a couple of cooks on the Searwood since I got it, and the amount of smoke that it puts out compared to the Smokefire is night and day better. I smoked some chicken thighs that came out incredibly smokey and delicious!
Regarind Smoque vs Searwood, I was considering the Smoque XL since it was the same price as the Searwood 600, however it is not yet available.
Check out Sambo’s Place on youtube. He was a Smokefire user and had many issues and ended up going Searwood and loves it. He just posted a video that he has a Smoque on the way and will be putting it to the test and comparing it to the Searwood so you might want to wait and see.
One other thing…. it sure was easy to find alot of videos on the Searwood, but I only found one video on the Recteq Deck Boss 800. I found that a little odd.
Don’t have any experience with the Weber but you won’t be disappointed in the RT. Have the 700 and it’s been perfect. Flagship is the new and improved version of it. CS is legit as well. Had a hot rod go out and they sent me a new one next day. Weld on the grill grates broke and no questions asked they sent me new ones. Owner even sends his number so you can call or text him
Easy answer is, if you want a pure pellet smoker, go with the RT flagship 1100. If you want more versatility (rotisserie, etc.), go with the searwood. Thanks for watching our videos!
I was considering RT vs SW as well. Wanted something that both smoked and seared and did both very well. Why with the Searwood as it outperformed everything else in every comparison I could find to watch or read. I have not been disappointed with it so far, and I’ve cooked steaks, burgers, duck, brisket, beef ribs, salmon, etc so far.
