In One Piece, a cook is someone who prepares food for others. A cook can be found on most pirate crews, but they can also be found amongst Marines and other government employees. The majority of cooks can be found in restaurants and royal kitchens. Most cooks in One Piece only focus on cooking and would never be considered fighters, but fans have met several strong cooks over the years. Not only can these cooks fight, they are quite good at it.

Most of One Piece’s strongest cooks belong to well-known pirate crews, but one cook in particular works directly for the World Government. Certain cooks have opened very successful restaurants after retiring from piracy. Some of the strongest cooks have Devil Fruits, but others are strong Haki users who serve as Yonko Commanders. Several of these cooks prefer to rely on their incredible physical strength while fighting.

Streusen Has Been Part Of Two Legendary Pirate Crews, And His Devil Fruit Is Perfect For A Cook

Affiliation: Big Mom Pirates

Streusen uses the Cook-Cook Fruit to create a large wedding Cake in One Piece.

Image via Toei Animation

Streusen co-founded the Big Mom Pirates with Charlotte Linlin and served as the crew’s executive chef for decades. Before forming their crew, Streusen joined the Rocks Pirates with Linlin and fought alongside her on God Valley. Streusen has lost a significant amount of his strength due to age, but he can still cut through a small mountain-sized object with his cutlass. He may be a talented swordsman, but this feat has more to do with his Devil Fruit rather than his current physical strength.

Streusen ate the Cook-Cook Fruit, which is arguably the best Devil Fruit a cook can have. Thanks to this Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, Streusen can turn anything into food as long as he cuts it, and he can decide what type of food it becomes. For example, he can turn a log into steak, or turn a collapsing castle into a soft, sponge cake. The God Valley incident included legendary Marines, the Roger Pirates, and several God’s Knights, and Streusen survived, which proves he was once a strong fighter.

Her chocolate biscuits are said to be irresistible, and her chocolate confectionery skills are allegedly superior to Streusen’s. As a member of the Three-Eye Tribe, Pudding has a third eye in the middle of her forehead that can be used to decipher the Poneglyphs.

Pudding has the power of the Memo-Memo Fruit, which gives her the ability to manipulate memories. She can erase someone’s memories or alter them to make the target do whatever she wants. Pudding does not look like much of a fighter, but her Pudding Punch can damage Niji and Yonji, who both possess superhuman bodies thanks to their genetically enhanced exoskeletons. That said, her weapon of choice is a special revolver that can injure a superhuman like Reiju.

Affiliation: Baratie Restaurant

Image via Toei Animation

Zeff is the head chef and owner of the Baratie restaurant in East Blue, but he was once the notorious captain of the Cook Pirates. He is a highly skilled chef who has mastered various cooking styles from the four seas and the Grand Line. Zeff may be in his late 60s, but he can still feed 100 people singlehandedly in a short amount of time. Sanji suffered a lot as a child, and Zeff saved his life and trained him to be a chef. That said, Zeff still considers Sanji to be an amateur.

Zeff also taught Sanji how to fight. During his days as a pirate, Zeff earned the “Red-Leg” epithet because his leg was usually coated in the blood of his enemies. Zeff created the Black Leg fighting style that Sanji is known for, and it allowed him to crush rocks with his legs. He could also defeat multiple opponents at once using only kicks. Zeff may have lost a considerable amount of leg strength when he amputated one of his legs, but his kicks can still generate a great deal of force.

Wanze is a member of CP7 and is considered the group’s best fighter. He is also CP7’s cook, and he specializes in making ramen noodles. His melee combat skills were highly respected, which is why he was chosen to provide extra security during CP9’s return to Ennies Lobby.

Wanze did not possess Haki when he fought Sanji, and he did not seem to know any of Cipher Pol’s superhuman martial arts, but he did use an unorthodox fighting style. Ramen Kenpo is a martial arts that utilizes noodles and a special flour that makes the noodles hard like metal. Wanze creates a suit of armor made of noodles and uses it to land crushing punches and devastating body slams. By splitting the armor’s arms, he can overwhelm his opponent with a barrage of ramen punches.

Affiliation: Whitebeard Pirates

Thatch, the 4th Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, smiles in One Piece

Image via Toei Animation

Thatch has only appeared in brief flashbacks because he was killed shortly after Luffy set sail. He was murdered by Marshall D. Teach, otherwise known as Blackbeard, because he found the Dark-Dark Fruit, one of the most powerful Devil Fruits in the world. It is a Logia that can produce darkness and nullify other Devil Fruit powers. According to the rules set by Whitebeard, whoever finds a Devil Fruit gets to eat it, and Teach was not going to stand for it because he had been searching for the Dark-Dark Fruit for years.

Thatch was the cook of the Whitebeard Pirates and served as the Commander of the 4th Division. The full extent of Thatch’s power is unknown, but given his status as a Yonko Commander, he must have possessed Armament Haki. He always carried a sword and a large kitchen knife, which indicates he was a proficient swordsman. Teach feared his strength so much that he had to kill him with a sneak attack. Thatch was a great cook, and without his meals, Whitebeard’s health deteriorated much faster.

During the timeskip, Goldberg became an S-Class ranked mercenary for Buggy’s delivery service, but he originally made a name for himself as a member of the New Giant Warrior Pirates. He is the crew’s cook, and he showcased his culinary expertise during the Elbaph Arc when he told Sanji how to prepare a Groggysaurus properly. Goldberg is a lighthearted cook who can laugh most things off, but he is a warrior at heart.

As a giant, Goldberg possesses immense physical strength and durability. A giant can destroy a Marine battleship with a single swing of their weapon, and Goldberg can do the same thing with his mace. Goldberg also wields a giant shield homie named Nash. He might be a coward, but Nash is durable enough to smash all of a Groggysaurus’ teeth with a single blow, and he can increase his size to block heavy attacks from larger opponents, like opposing giants.

Roux can be quite stealthy despite his large size, and he is good with a pistol, but when he fights for real, he prefers to rely on his unique fighting style. Self-Bowling takes advantage of Roux’s girth, as he curls himself into a ball and then rolls into his targets. He can also be thrown at enemies like a giant bowling ball. As a result, Roux can take out multiple opponents in a short amount of time, and he becomes even more dangerous when he imbues his body with Haki.

Sanji Is A Yonko Commander With A Superhuman Body And Powerful Armament Haki

Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates

Sanji is the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates and is part of the crew’s Monster Trio, making him one of their strongest fighters. Like a true chef, he believes his hands should only be used for cooking, which is why he mastered the Black Leg fighting style. As a result, he can perform powerful kicks that can knock out most enemies instantly. He is now a full-fledged Yonko Commander who can defeat other Commanders in one-on-one combat. It should be mentioned that Sanji can fight with kitchen knives if he is forced to, and he can wield them with great precision.

Sanji can use Observation Haki to sense others, and he can harden his legs with Armament Haki. He can superheat his feet to amplify the strength of his kicks even further. These attacks are powerful enough to severely injure Luffy’s rubber body. Now that Sanji has awakened his genetic modifications, his body is virtually indestructible, and his physical strength has increased to the point he can knock out a powerful Ancient Zoan user like Queen. Despite his youth, Sanji has become a master chef who can produce any kind of delicious food. He can guess a dish’s ingredients through smell alone, and he can prepare a mouth-watering meal with limited ingredients. According to Charlotte Chiffon, Sanji has already surpassed Streusen, who was arguably the best chef in the New World.
