Fortunately for me, Cookie Jam is back to culinary questions, as I like them very much. While they are definitely not the easiest one, they are interesting to answer. Thanks to them we can learn more about different cultures and tasty food. For example, before this week I have never heard about “[blank] bread, doesn’t stay around for long” or “Sweet, flaky pastry from Denmark”. However, among many countries, one seems to be the most popular among developers – France. Would you like to know the answer to “A sleeve or treat they look so sweet”?
Answer to “A sleeve or treat they look so sweet” in Cookie Jam
I must tell you that I like the Victorian era, so figuring out the sleeve part of the puzzle was not so difficult for me, but the food is a different story.
A sleeve or treat they look so sweet – Puffs
What sleeves have in common with food? Why are both called puffs? Puffy sleeves are a kind of women’s sleeves which are wide, hence puffy. It was especially popular in the Victorian era (the XIX century in the United Kingdom). In the case of food, the situation is not so easy, as there are a few things which are called “puffs”, but I believe that developers had in mind profiterole (also known as cream puffs). It is a French dessert (though it can be savory). Moreover, it supports my theory that France dominates this week’s Buzzwords with “Sweet bread that contains eggs and butter”, “Caramelized, buttery pastry”, “Crustless French dessert with fruit” and this one.
