Dr. Emmanuel Is one of the faculty members in room, business school. where I also school? Yeah. And He’s also I’m someone that is well known in the communication and marketing. and he has been, he has worked with a number of organizations. Abducting Monroe. Also boxes PhD degree in Bangkok University. He’s worked with Guinness. He has also worked in Nigerian breweries. He has worked in different Fmcgs, and he’s someone that some kind of is, well versed and he understands what it means you know, your, you know what it means to leverage, you know, different what the leverage is all about. What it means to understand who you are as your identity. what it means in order to understand what your assets are. And of course the leverage, you have to be able to grow and thrive you know, in your career journey. So, join me today as we welcome Dr. Emmanuel Agua as the only he’s from his wealth of experience to. Take us through these topic and how we can, you know, He can help us to build our career to be able to achieve the success. That all of us desire to achieve. Thank you very much and Dr. Emmanuel please over to you. Thank you. >> Emmanuel Agu: thank you, everyone on Thank you for having me in this session. Just a personal confession. From me. Every one of us. Is in this journey. The facilitator. Who is taking you on this course? Is also. In this journey. so, What I’m going to share with us. Is partly. My journey experience. And is also partly. What I think. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: I, >> Emmanuel Agu: Could be. The most realistic thing. One has to do. so, Notes to all of us here. I’m also talking to myself. Like we said, learning. Is from Prado to Grief. No one knows it all. But at least the Scripture says Ayot. just like, A man, sharpen it the countenance. Of his friends. So we’re just going to have an interactive session. I’ll share my personal career journey experience. I’m still in that experience. I am not yet, retired. So I’m still in the game. But having had this topic. It also got me. A thinking. When I look at, My identity. My assets. My leverage. What could this be? In my part of achieving career breakthrough. so, and I think, These topic. Is both motivational. And strategic. Again, it forecasts on personal development. And professional advancement. It also hints at internal empowerment. When you talk about identity, Strategic resourcefulness. When you talk about assets, And influence or advantage. When you talk about leverage, These are the key pillars. For. A breakthrough. In one’s career. A noun, if I have to break down. These three men elements. Into what they are identity. Assets. And leverage. Because it is important. We understand These core words. So, when we start taking them one after the other, It will begin to make sense and it will begin to align. Your identity. What is identity? What does it mean? identity in this case, Could mean your values. Your personal brand. Your beliefs. Your strength. And your purpose. so, When I look at this, in terms of values, what are my personal values? What are my personal brand? What am I beliefs? And what are my strengths or what are my purpose? I was in the class today. From 10 o’clock to three pm this afternoon at the wrong business school. and I was telling my student I said, The same way. Businesses. And companies. Develop. Core values. It develop. Missions. And visions. There’s hardly any business. That is what calling a business. That does not have. Vision. Mission and core values. You think it is only for company? You as an individual. Needs to. Define. What is your vision? As a career professional. What is your mission? And what is your core values? And these core values. Are your guiding light. Things that will become your internal audit. That checks your behavior. In the place of work. And out of work. And then I begin to ask them. I said, Where do you people walk? And everybody mentioned the places where they work. Oh, I am brand manager. This and marketing manager, these a marketing director, these Chief commercial officer, this blah blah blah blah. And my next question. Was. Who are you? Beyond Your Job title. Who are you? If these job title is stripped off from you. Who are you? And he speaks to authenticity and self-awareness. As the basic foundation. For sustainable success. Who are you? Beyond Your Job title. How do you identify yourself? If tomorrow. You are strip of your job, God forbid. How do you identify yourself? And until you answer that identity question. You have not started the journey of defining. who you are your identity because you are identity. Must link to clarity Confidence. And to consistency in your career choices. This is why I am. These are my core values. These are my vision. These are my mission. And these decide and determines for me. Where to work and we’re not work. There are jobs. And opportunities. That I got. And when I look at my own personal values, And my own beliefs. And my core values. I said, no. I can’t do this job. Because if I take such an employment, That goes. Against my core values. Internally, I’ve started failing. Even before getting involved in the job. so, you identity, Matters a lot. And in the identity question. There are some identity questions to ask yourself. What makes you distant in your field? What values? Or principles guide your work. What narratives do you need to rewrite to evolve your career? You need to answer these identity questions. if you cannot find anything that makes you distant in your career and in your field, Then you need to look in what? I was not trained as a marketing. Blessing. Are the degree. In agricultural, economics and extension against my will and my personal desire. I had wanted to study the medicine. But circumstances, beyond my control. Stop me from doing that. And I got myself. Studying agricultural economics and extension from Federal University of Technology over. And get me, right? I’m not saying that agriculturally economics and extension is a bad cause After all, that is what a king would be additional. President the past President of African Development Bank. Studied. I’ve seen a lot of career professionals. Who has made a decent living? In that field. But that is not what I was called. That is not in line with my strength, but that is what I found myself doing. But after back and forth in the university, I started very badly. Because my mind was not in the course. I was looking at how to do university transfer. I was looking at how to go back and ride jam, you know, I was just an unsettled person. Why many people in my class are happy? That they finally gained the admission in the university. I was happy. So, And that had a very terrible impact. In my year, one result. But when he done on me, That these costs that I was even looking down on. That if I’m not careful, I will come out the class. A buckled, my belt. and then, I, Started. Doing my best. And end of the day. I graduated second class almost upper division. And best in the department. The best in the faculty. 1998. Foot over. And that is where I met the professor to be say Okeke. Who then? Now, when I came up from the university, I knew that I’m not going to do anything further in agricultural, economics. so, I got into identity crisis. What do I really want to do? Should I go and take a masters degree in economics? Should I go and do an MBA? where, Of course, the Nigerian environment was subject you to attitude tests. And all manner of job market opportunities. And that was how I found myself. In Einstein Young. FM of chartered, accountants. I walked the next time. Young for two months. I know clearly. Now, yes, good results. In attitude tests. Powerful oratory presentation, during an interview can get you a job. But it might not get, it might not give you the passion that you need to do the job. I jumped from instant young. I jumped into the bank. In search. For what will give me fulfillment. I walked in the bank for one year. I wasn’t feeling myself. I was any salary doing well, but I know this is not my calling. Eventually, I found myself in Guinness. and when I started in the marketing department of Guinness, I knew. From the outside. That have hit the passion point of my life. and from that point, I made up my mind that I’m going to pursue a career. In marketing and precisely the career in brand management. I will find MBA degree in marketing. Got an MBA degree. Went for an MSC degree in media and communication. Government. MSC degree. I didn’t stop there. I went for a PhD degree. In Marketing with specialization in marketing communication. Every now and then I see anything marketing. And get enthused. Because that has become my passion point. And I was one led me. Into coming to the room business school to teach marketing. so, Unlocking, my passion point. Gives me the happiness that I desire. And I begin to. Live the identity. and the things that I want to do, Now. We’ve talked about identity. Then we’re gonna when I’m going to talk about the asset. Your asset. What is the meaning of asset? Asset can be tangible. It can be intangible resources. Intangible resources in terms of skills. Experiences. Your networks. Reputation. And credentials. So, if someone asks you to date To define your career capital. and what I mean by career capital is Who, you know? And how you show up. Will be your answer. Because those things you would think it doesn’t matter. It matters a lot. What, you know. Internal with you. Who, you know? External. How you show up? Your appearance, which is a combination of internal and external manifestation. Of your personality. And then in asset. You also have to differentiate between what are called the heart assets. And the soft assets. What are your heart assets? Your degrees. Bsc B Tech. Msc. MBA, PhD DBA. Certification Programs in Harvard. At in seat. In Kellogg’s. ACA acca. And all what not? Projects completed their your hard assets. And what is your soft asset? Many times people don’t think this soft asset are truly assets. The soft assets are your emotionally intelligence. Leadership style. Your problems solving mindset. When a meeting some three days ago. A guy with strong heart asset. But weak soft assets. May the blunder in the meeting. He had an unnecessary outpost. Legitimate outburst. But the way he let loose this outburst. Now, made the whole thing, looks illegitimate and disrespectful. Soft assets. Emotionally intelligence. Emotional quotient. The leadership style autocratic. Dictatorship. I know what does? You need to. Think about it. and in this meeting, You need to take a pen and a pencil and audit. Your existing asset. What am I had assets? And what are my soft assets? What do I bring to the table? It is not only women. The men should be asking that question. What do you bring to the table? You in the place of work. That is looking for. Ways to Enhance Your Skill. What? Are you bringing to the table or what do you bring to the table? What is your zone of genus? What stories? Or case studies demonstrative value. And when I talk about zone of generous, As in this is the area. If we have to use the word teaching English, this is the area you chop. Which When it comes to this particular field of study, leave it to Emmanuel Immoral. He is the Alpha. But not the Omega. In this area. When it comes to, Marketing and branding. Leave it to Kenneth. when it comes to financial planning and analysis, Leave it to Princess Osuala. Those are your your zone of genus. could this be said about you in your organization, Or you are everything. For everybody. There are people in businesses, no matter how you hate them. You cannot take away the fact that they know their s***. No matter, how Escoes and MD’s and Bots are angry. They cannot take away. That these guy is the best. That this bank has ever produced. under the leadership of this guy, these bank has witnessed Zero non-performing loans. He knows how to analyze credit. just without even breathing in and breathing out, he will tell you A proposal on credit that will fail. And if you override him, You will burn your finger. Those are zone of genus. Those are specialization. Those are the areas of mastery. The things that you have trained yourself. To become a master in this field that people got to respect you. Those are your assets. And these are the stories that you will tell that shows an amplifies. Your ingenuity. And this is what you bring to the table. And these are the set of people. That tomorrow. They get an offer. By having a company. And they go to the align manager or to the MD and they said I want to resign. And the question is you are going nowhere. What is the offer that the competition is offering? You will match it and exceed it Because the person. Has something that he has brought to the table. Organizations. These days are not looking for employees. They are looking for men and women. That have value that they are bringing to the table. if you are a man and a woman of value, You don’t need to stretch yourself. if you lose a job today, you get another one tomorrow, I can assure you that but if you are in, if you are among the mixed multitude, No zone of genus. Nothing so special about you no value that you’re bringing to the table. You are same of sin. I’m sorry you may not go far in your career. Choose a particular thing that aligns with your strength. And specialized on that. I knew from the one. The marketing and brand management. Was my strength. And they, in day out, I keep on strengthening this area or specialization. and then, in the field of marketing, I can make bold to tell you in this meeting. not I Emmanuel Agu have never in my 24 years experience, in the field of marketing, manage a flagship brand in any business. Or he works in Heineken, he was the marketing manager for Star. Or the marketing manager for Heineken. No. I have never in my 24 years manage. The flagship brand. Or I have never been privileged. Because who know? One manage flagship brand. But the truth is that I have managed. Brands that are struggling. And I took them from being struggling brands. To flagship brands. And that became my zone of genius. I wake dead brands up. Everywhere I go. When I first landed a brand manager role, they gave me the dead harp. In Guinness Nigeria. How? Resuscitated. Have got born again in my hand. From. 85,000 hectolitas in a year to 1.5 million. In one year. And when high nickel, Nigerian beauty saw the trend. And the way up is going. They have no other choice. Than to do surgical removal. And what they call strategic hiring. By putting me from Guinness to Nigerian beauty. I became the first marketing exchange between Nigerian Beauties and Guinness inception. No marketing higher has ever crossed from Guinness straight into Nigerian beauty or from Nigerian beauty state into Guinness. Anybody that, you know, that I’ve worked in Nigerian theory that came to Guinness would have walked elsewhere After the person left, my dream views. But they swallowed their pride. And they make these strategic higher. And I got into Nigerian you thinking, I’m going to get the big brand. He said We love what you did with her. Now come and wake legend up. Come on with life life beer in the East. We don’t know what we’re going to do with this but we just Bought the beauty to checkmate the hero. From it being birth, come on, wake it up. Good. People are saying it gives us pot belly. We have introduced ultimate search but he looks like it’s not working. Well deal with it. I took these three brands. And they started working on their revival. And three years repository on the 4th year. There was a consolidation Between Nigerian buries and consolidated theories. The big boys in marketing in Nigerian views. Nobody want to touch territory export laga. What are you going to do with the value for money Brand? Nobody wants to touch two, bucking. Nobody wants to touch Williams Dark Hill. Nobody wants to touch her more like a from the benue. Axis. The marketing director was like, Who will build the cat? I say, you already know that. I work that things up. Give it to me. and that was how I inherited for value for money brands in addition to three that I have, I have seven brands In my kitty. When my colleagues are doing one brand plan or two brand plants, I am doing seven, and these seven when you aggregate the total volume, it is not even up to 50% of the volume of star and they were laughing. Only that, they don’t know, the man who is on the shadow. I was in Nigerian theories. For approximately six years on the 50th year. The magic started because the foundation work, the analysis, the understanding of the weaknesses of these brand, and fixing the rudiments. that will prepare them to growth was going on the ground and they didn’t know because the formula for growth has not been different from what I did in Guinness. and by 2017, Life. Became. The Biggest Bear Brand. For Heineken. Africa. Middle East and Eastern Europe. That brand moved from. 105,000 hectolitas to 3.104 million actually passing one year. Life became bigger than Star Gooder, Heineken combined in volume and in profitability. Legend moved from. 6% Market share. To almost 24% market share. Gooder was transformed. I and the team did the change of button. In 2015. And introduced the good are ultimate chase. And the Gooder Club ultimate. And reform the good ultimate search. To have the search in the jungle and the virtual search that people did online. And a lot of things that was done and the brand was reborn. And in the 60th year. On the fifth year, my portfolio. Was contributing. Of the total Nigerian beauties volume. And 52 percent by revenue. And envy started creeping in. And when I left, I moved to La Casera. The Joplin group as the group Marketing director. when I came into Journal group in 2018, The business was making losses from 2013 to 2018, five years in a row. They were almost killed by right food, Big Apple. Beginning that. And then we do rumors around like a Sarah Brand. Oh, like I said, You use it to losing roasted boat. If you can use these brand to losing rusted boot, you can imagine what it to do to intestine. Those were category properties. If you go to the Internet, the Internet is our wash. With Coca-Cola used to clean toilet stars. but because of the strong brand equity, Of these brand. Nobody talks about it. How come like I said, I got depicted with category property. And who are the poor various? Of these dastard news the artisans. so, we have to go and start dealing with the artisans, but first and foremost are there intrinsic product intrinsic issues on this brand people complain about. So much gas, is this true? We have to do a blind test. And get all the Apple products. And did a blind test. and after that, pick all the issues that people have and go back to the production house. And got it, sorted. Because I may believer. That there is no marketing solution to a bad product. So, when we fix them, Reduce the gas, the CO2. and then we took the gospel of, like I said, To the artisans. I have a friend diode bello. that organizes artisans conference every year at National Theater, Igbo I took the sponsorship. Of the artisan. Conference every year and then took the message of like a Sarah to the artisans. Took all about five years. The product that I know, Put the liquid in different bottles so that they want some the marketing their product. And then we brought about six roasted tires and boots and poured all of them dead, the same effect. That like Asura had on those roasted good was Sammy Faith. All these other csd. And the question is, this is the category dynamics. because, The CSC contains CO2. It has those property. Why then did you make it the bat, right? Of only like a sera. And the message started. we started sensitizing, the trade, we started doing things to activate terms of national consumer. Promotional was the first to do national promotion. Customer promotion, where we put prices on inside the cap. Short. Fantastic commercial. Start the work of building. Jonah, was barely selling up to three million cases in a year. by the time I left the journal group, In. January 2023. End of financial year, December 2022. These company moved from 3 million KCC here to 16 million In 2022. Never heard in the history of that business. And how do did we achieve 60 million cases? You cannot win the market. The battle in the marketplace with two silver bullets. Were only like a Sarah. We have only smooth Chapman. We have to rework the nirvana premium table water. You will ask What the job. Can you do a water? Is mine from the earth? Thank God. The Ministry of Water Resources have not started charging us for using our ball. But when you look at the preform, And caps. That is where the cost lies. Then in like a salad are preformed. Is weighing 26 grams. That’s the plastic bottle. 26 Gram. And then the cap. Was like the Hunter’s cup the size. this is water that once people drink it and the three wedding the pet and the costume nuisance environment and musicians. So why are you allocating such a weight on? The preform is the way we can go down 50% on this platform. With we move from 26 to 13. And then we cut. The cap by 50%. He almost look like the size of a nipple. and then we looked at the color process on the label, using the physics, what we call beef Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo. And violet Three process color. From eight colors. We reduce the colors on the label to three. Because that will also reduce your cost. and by the time we did it, we drove down the impute cost on this nirvana water by over 75%. and when we launch the product into the market, Our major target is Mr. V. And c way. we use price penetration strategy and we cut into Lagos And the Southwest. You can see Nirvana everywhere now, it wasn’t so from the beginning. It wasn’t so. So you asked but we didn’t shoot any commercial. But we went for cost reduction. And used cost reduction to drive price penetration. And we did that for nirvana water. We launched. So the water we launched, um, Premium table water, and then there’s other water brand that we launch. There are three And then I went on a smooth Chapman. I got intelligence in trade. The big. Is about to launch Biggie, Chapman. and while we are having 50 cl at 35 cl, In. In Chapman smooth, these guys are coming with 60. so, We quickly. Developed 60cl mode. For Biggie, Chapman. Got all the necessary approval from Nasdaq and from Afcon. And waited. Got all our creative materials and waited. The day Biggie, launched their Chapman. They launched today, 60 years tomorrow. We ruled out 60 cm of smooth. Chapman. With a creative expression. So we want to reinforce these credential the way you want to talk about Chapman smooth. Is the category name for Chapman? Just like when you want to talk about noodles, you talk about indomie when you want to talk about, seasoning you talk about magic. we want to talk about detergent in those days, you talk about Omo, And we follow them bumper to bumper until Smooth Chapman left to the conversation. What is the zone of the zone of genus? What is it that you know? What is your strength? And how do you reinforce it? You need to know about this. When we are talking about hard and soft asset. so going To the university program. Is building hard assets. The Greece and Certification. I did not only have four degrees. BSc 2 Masters and a PhD. I also have certification in four continents up of the seven continents of the world. My target was to set my footprint in six continents of the world. With only two continent to remaining Australia and the United States. I took a course in business strategy, and financial performance. From inside in France, that is Europe. Then at the cost of 4,500 the 500, the dollars. I went to Singapore, Singapore, Management University and took another course on digital leadership. And I went to Ashridge. Business School in London. And took a course on international management development. And of course, I did cause in Lagos business school. before joining our beloved from business school, And then I have gotten certification in Scrum master. I will write PMP in no distance time. I have finished having training on, cbap certified business analysis professional. And one will ask Why do you do this? You are just a bloody market here. I want to build myself. As a pie ship individual. Not an iship, not a teacher. I want to become versatile in what I do. so, that tomorrow, There will always be value. Because the game is to build yourself like an institution. That dishes out values that solves problems. And not becoming problems to the sons and daughters of men. Asset. Soft assets had assets. Now, let’s go to leverage. remember these courses about identity, Assets and leverage. Your leverage. What it means. How you use, what you have? To create opportunities. Negotiate. Or elevate your career. That is leverage. How you use, what you have? To create opportunities. To negotiate. Or elevate your career. Excuse me. Some of you have the important people in the industry. Have you ever thought about? Using your leverage, the better yourself. What is your strategy? You can even look at leverage again as strategy. Plus right timing. Gives you leverage. Leverage is different from being a nice guy. Nice guy. Nice people. They don’t succeed in business. It sounds awful. It sounds awkward but it’s true. Nice people, they don’t succeed in business. There is a world of difference between being good or being nice. And being visible and valued. Are you visible in the business? You are into. Oh, don’t worry. My work will speak for me that is in the days of our fathers. That your work that will speak for you. Might be doing it your boss. Will be shining. From that work, your boss is the only one seen you are not seen. And therefore your work is not speaking for you. Being visible and being valued. Is one thing critical you must embrace. It is not being arrogant. It’s not being self-compose. It’s not being very pride proud. You need to be visible. In your organization especially if you are doing the right thing. I give you an instance, when I was a brand, man, an assistant brand manager in Guinness. We have four assistant brand managers. I didn’t know. These visibility game. Mine is just giving my work. I’ll sit down in my little corner. I’ll do my job and I’ll do it to the best of my ability. Well, how to showcase my job? Is not my problem. My boss will do that. Right. It was in Guinness. That I learned what they call shoe and tell Bello you raise your hand abdulmalik. You want to say something? >> Bello Abdulmalik: lecture so, >> Emmanuel Agu: Ok. So, it was ingenious that I learned, that being good. And being nice. Is different from being visible and valued. I do all these job in the secret corner of my office. And I have three other assistant brand managers that they are walked out cute. Is not even up to. 70% of my workout. But they were the ones that are known by executive management. Team. Because a little campaign that they would do. They will carry the poster. And they will run to second floor. They will show finance directors, you show this person. Ah this is what we’re doing on brandiness. The person will be saying Yeah. Yeah you guys are really trying. I thought they were just being Sacrific. I didn’t know that they were selling themselves. Until there was an opportunity. A woman in Guinness Ghana. Put to bed. The brand manager Guinness. Had Guinness Ghana, put to bed. And number three months maternity leave. these women says, That she wants to. She wants to take additional three months. So that she can do six months. To have proper time with the baby. And Guinness Ghana, send an SOS to Guinness Nigeria. We need a relief, brand manager. Almost. One of the. The guy that is the most visible. But not the most hardworking. Was chosen to go to Ghana. Say, Relief, brand manager, The guy went to Ghana. After six months, he came back. His email by line, he never reverted it to assistant brand manager. You cannot programming at the. Then he put Project manager. Those of us, he started avoiding going to lunch with us. To go and eat our normal food. You know, the followers. So He couldn’t follow brand managers and senior brand managers. because as far as his concerned, He’s not in our level again and I say within the word, this guy. I did not understand the story. But the Guinness. Extra smooth was launched. It was made by the automatic. From extract smooth. He moved to Guinness brand manager. By the time they moved me. from my system, Grandmother Rtd To Assistant Brand manager, Guinea Stout, I certainly reporting on the him. Then my eyes open. And then I started playing these visibility game. Introverts in a work environment. If you are one. Please. Do everything to convert. If you cannot become an extrovert become and be valid. Yes, there are introverted advantage. But introvertness could cause you visibility in the place of work. Especially if you’re a marketing. Because if you’re in finance or audit, Maybe. Maybe not, maybe. But you need to find a way to be visible, and it is in your hand. And that introduces me to the idea of social proof. How you can build your credibility and influence. What you can leverage upon. You want to actually raise in the office? When you don’t have a, Result that back to your argument, you’re not gonna win. But you can use your network. To assess healing opportunities. You can use your identity and assets. To position yourself for high impact rules. and that is, if you know, you have those leverages and I asked people in this class, What does and your current assets open? Who can vouch for your excellence? How are you using your voice? To shift conversation in your field. One of my mentors in this industry is Mr. Lua come. Will know is one marketer that I know is very visible. He writes a lot about marketing, he speaks a lot about marketing. You cannot take away from him. That this man. Is a hardened marketing, professional. And he started, pharmacy. Leverage. Your part. To carry a breakthrough. So, your career breakthrough. is equals to, Identity. Times assets. Times leverage. if you can combine these three things, You have a breakthrough. And what does breakthrough look like? Breakthrough can be. It can be changing industries. Your ability to switch from one rule from one industry to the other. So be about gaining global exposure. Opportunities other people do not have. And breakthroughs. Are not one. Big. But a result of intentional compounding efforts. Oh, it’s very successful. It’s not the end. It is you well, He successful. You just saw an iceberg in the midst of an Atlantic Ocean. You saw the tip of the iceberg. The Mass. Is in the waters. The mass are the resilience. The failures, the never say die. The consistency. The internal belief. You have to believe in yourself first. Before people begin to believe in you. How many times have you looked at the mirror in your sitting room in your bedroom and you speak to the man in the mirror? Which is you. When I get to the points of confusion contradiction and frustration in life, I walked towards the mirror in my room in my bedroom and I start speaking to myself. Your name is Emmanuel. How they come about naming me this name? I don’t know. But God is with me. Therefore, I have no reason whatsoever under the sun and beneath the heavens to faith in life. But I will do the job. If you’re a Christian, and you believe, In the Scripture. You should also know. You need to do the work. You need to do, the do. So when you have done your own path, Then you can hold God, accountable. To make the others work. And during that part is understanding your identity, your asset and your leverage. Don’t say, Oh no, I know the CBN governor. If I go to him, not to go and lobby him, it will not look like I’m taking God out of the equation. That is your leverage. Is it everybody? That has the opportunity to know the CBN governor. Most jobs that people get at high level today is the leverage. But before activating that leverage the identity and the assets are already dead. And the truth is that we all come to a particular point in life when everybody comes to that same of same in terms of knowledge levels, becomes at part, And it is your leverage. That creates the difference. If I’m a marketing director. In Nigeria Theories. And my friends Cecilia Osoka is the marketing director. A nestle. And my friend Oscar is marketing director in Coca-Cola. And common pramacido is looking for an mdcu. And the one, the mdcu to be someone who was a marketing background. Three or fours can do that job. But that is where leverage comes in. Who knows? somebody who knows somebody That can vouch for me that can speak for me. What do people say? When you are not in the room. Who has your voice? In the board. when the board of directors of your company sits, Do you have an advocate? Do you have someone that will say Look man? if it is this road that we’re talking about, if we don’t give it to chicken, I don’t know. Who else you give this job? and the way you will start talking about chicken, and if it’s the responsible person in the broad people who listen to him, That is sickest leverage. When everybody comes to equality. Leverage. Will give you an advantage. Who, you know? Who speaks for you? Clarity visibility and negotiations. Are crucial to career breakthroughs. Don’t play with it. so, and in this whole conversation, There are caught things that you need to map and you have to use it for your own personal assessment. Categories to map. You need to examine your core skills. As an individual. Your score skills could be technical. It could be analytical. It could be domain specific capabilities. You need to map your soft skills. Communication. Empathy leadership and adaptability The you need to map your experience. Your past rules your major projects, your side hustles, your volunteering. I walk today. As the chairperson or chairman for advertising standards panel. Of Nigeria. Working with the DG of Advertising Regulatory Council on Nigeria, Dr. Oliko Father, Labo. Every ad. Radio. TV out of home, press digital. That is in this Nigerian space. Is being vetted by me and by my team. It is a volunteering work. and when you go to my LinkedIn page today, you will see where I put it and I put it in bracket. Volunteer. Volunteering Job. That alone could draw someone to me to say. This guy does XYZ And he’s still doing this. That volunteering job. Gives me a whole lot of visibility in the marketing world in Nigeria. And to some extent. I can’t close my eyes. if I’m working for Company, A And Company B. Send material for vetting. and that program, or that thing that they are sending for vecting. I know, it will hurt the business that I’m working on both for the position that I have occupied. Should I close my eyes? At least I will see. The thunder and lightning is about to happen. And if it is one to run for safety around for safety. Volunteering jobs. I do these volunteering work. With. I do part-time teaching, we own business school. And I do my nine to five job. If I don’t encounter you, In. Advertising standards panel or all the programs that advertising regulatory Council of Nigeria is doing. I will encounter in school. And that’s where I encountered. Dr. Chinear and the loss of people that are meeting here for the first time, So tomorrow, when you hear Emmanuel Agua is now appointed the minister of Susan’s Ah this is very is such a lucky man. and like I said, This thing, it is. Tensional compounding efforts. Breakthroughs, they are not just one of, they are not just one big event. What a result of intentional. A little help here. A little assisted. A little walk here. You are building your network. You don’t know where your next daily bread will come. You don’t know who see what you have done. But then, You also need to be intentional. There are platforms that, if you are not prepared, I beg you. In the name of God. It is better to accept yourself. Not to come out on a big stage and f******. If you don’t know who is watching. It is always almost difficult to make a second impression. So, we talked about core skills, we talked about soft skills. We talked about the experience. They want to have, we’re talking about networks. Who are your mentors? I learned this one very late. but I beg you if you don’t learn it very late, In the businesses where you operate. whether within your business or outside your business, Please look for a mentor. There is the reason why they call them mentors. You don’t have to repeat a mistake. Somebody has made before. when you have an opportunity for somebody to guide you, don’t be Mr. Know, it all, Appoint a mentor to yourself. There was a very bad decision that I would have taken in the month of April. In my own judgment as a person. I thought the direction I was going was the right one but I said, Hey, Let me check with my mentor one of my mentor. In Amsterdam. And I send a whatsapp to this guy. I said, This opportunity I want to look into it, but I feel these, I feel that I feel this. What do you think? Is a man will go for it. I say, Hausa He said These opportunity will open a bigger door. It is like a tributary You know what, they call the three but a Small stream. Of what the flowing into the big ocean. You look at it. As a minor opportunity. but I tell you, And I say, Thank you, sir. Today. On the 8th of July. I sent him a note. To say you are right. That is the value of mentors. Who are your mentors within your network? Who, what professional community did you belong to? Against. This is the entire time in Entrepreneurs tribe. What is your professional community? You belong to different Whatsapp group. That are busy gossiping about Nigerian politicians. What’s your professional communities? What are your personal contacts? Networks. You need to map, also your knowledge. Your industry insights. Your certifications and your niche expertise? When people. Computer or competing. Or a particular program, this is the go-to person. And you can build yourself in that domain. To become a niche expert. And then we also have to map your reputation. What you are known for. Testimonials brand presence. So many of you are LinkedIn. When last did you ask people? To write something about you. That provision is made on LinkedIn. Your co-workers or the last place of work, you ask them to write you a recommendation. So many headhunters might not be interested in the in the barrage of your spirits that you have listed in your LinkedIn. They will just go into your recommendation. What do people say? About this guy. Going through your recommendation, they can form opinion of who you are. Reputation. How? Do you use that? so, You can start with a blank canvas. With quadrant grid. Brainstorm about your asset in each of these category. Use color coding or icons to show. Relevance to current goals level of mastery. On the utilize assets. So many of us have assets that we never utilized We’re waiting for God. To call you my son, my son. These asset at your disposal use it. God is not gonna do that. Again, because most people on the estimate, what they already have. You are very fluent. In English. Your communication skill is to design it. But you’re doing something different. Imagine Michael be. That is now either HM or dgm. That man’s the communication decks of Assets Bank. Walked under me in Guinness, Nigeria. and later magic, the left Guinness Nigeria, as brand manager, Johnny Walker, He did a project of called work with the giant. He was in the wrong area of specialization. Zone of genus. A major was in the Toastmasters club, he speaks fine, he can communicate. Well, Brand building is not part of it. Your area of strength is incorporate communication. What are you doing with us? Chasing promotion? And the moment he located. that place that he has natural ability, you have seen how he has held the corporate communication you need of asset access bank. Strong and healthy. What talent do you have? That your nitilizing. You need to. like I said, Look at your skills Matrix. Are you? I shape. T-shape. By shape. I is just one single talent. See, you’re talking about brought talent the horizontal bar. On the team. Represent brought foundational knowledge in several areas and the vertical bar. Represent deep expertise in one. Or two areas. But if a pie ship, one, two, three, then you have more than Three areas of expertise and it is possible. It’s not that. You have no really introspected. Look in what. What is your strength area? And then you can map out your skill list, all the skills that you have. On the x-axis and across it. You put beginner intermediate advanced. Or in data analysis. I may beginner or have intermediate skill. Or an advanced in this area when it comes to public speaking. I mean, the Well, I’m advanced. When you come to brand strategy, I am advanced when it comes to product design. I’m a beginner. This will help you draw your T-shaped skills. And review to you. The skills. That you don’t know that you have. and again, a lot of people, Have. A lot of things in them. They know a lot. But present them to a panel. And ask them to express themselves. They will like coordination. How do you structure? You are still telling. How do you talk about yourself? Before a panel that is, assessing you. because, nobody will go into your mind to know what, you know when we are not witches and wizard. You have to speak it out. well, how do you So many people fails also in this area. But you need to excel. because, Will turn your professional experience, who experiences into persuasive narratives. The highlights. Your value. Through results and impact. I have gone through these model over and over again and have learned that nobody was born with that skill set. You have to develop it. You have to develop it, you have to practice it, you have to be consistently consistent in it and then you get to a point, you have gained mastery. When you stand before a panel. Of judges or panel of audience. When you finish speaking about yourself you live good bombs on people’s body. Whether what you said, you able to bring it to pass or you’re able to deliver it, at least your pass through the stage. When we come to practical experience. Will will discuss about that. But by the way, it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. It is what, you know, in your head that you speak through your mouth. So to help one confidently talk through or talk about your work. Not just what you did but the outcome it created. Making you memorable in interviews, teaches and networking. You need to understand the use. Of the Star model. Over to call the Star method. People call it the Star. But I’m adding another to it. I call it, the Star Plus R. Extra are. Star plus star and what is this? The first s is situation. The second one is task the tea. The third one is action. A. The fourth one is the result. And then they the additional and the plus are is reflection. Situation is about what was the context. Of problem. Task. What was expected of you? Action. What did you do? Specifically A result. What measurable impact did it have? and then, when you not come to reflection, What did you learn? Or How did you grow? if you order your peaches your presentation, your interviews, your conversation using the Star Plus R model, you will hardly forget. What you Need to Say and how to say it. Gentlemen. And ladies. Outside the star, plus our model. You need to also understand. Strength. Weaknesses opportunities and threat. That is the adaptation. Of the business called SWAT. Use it for self-assessment and identity alignment. Business is use what? You also need to do sort of yourself. And the purpose is for you to analyze your internal traits. And external environment. To clarify. And identity leveraging points. When I did this. I knew my strength. I knew my weaknesses. I knew the opportunities I have. I knew the threats. And the weaknesses. I pursued through certifications. Where do I want to end my career? So I let you know. So you can also pray for me. I want to end this career as a GM. Or an MDC you of a business. and for me to get to that level, There are different routes that people comes to GM or MDC, you people can come through finance. They have come through technical. they can come through sales, they can come through marketing, They can come through different windows. There is nobody who gets into a CEO role? That is Alpha and Omega, that knows everything about the business. You come from your areas of strength. And then you begin to use the soft skills. To manage other people within the areas that, you know, have strength. So, how do I move? From marketing. To CEO. I need to understand business strategy. And financial performance. I need to understand what underpins the numbers. Which are areas that most marketing people are deficient. They are bringing the money. We spend it. Business strategically financial performance. I need to understand it. And I went to INSEAD. To go get that knowledge. I went to Ashrich International Management Development to gain that knowledge. If I have money now. I would have gone to Harvard. Still on these general management either advance management program or general management program. You need to be intentional about your good. You need to have a focus. You need to have an ambition. You need to have a pathway what you are looking for. Don’t come to work. And walk and say that. We have ended today. Thank God. It is Friday. You need to map your career progress at this age. And at this time of life, this is where I should be. And is do it. Like the vixitude of life will cause oppose you? But if you don’t have a plan, If you have no plan to do anything, you have already planned to feel. At certain age. Certain things must be in your custody. Don’t walk into career endlessly or leave people to toil away with your career. there are rules, you will find yourself in a particular company, you will know that these rules will only to God. If it means to exit the business, you have to exit the business. And you have to develop these mindset of you first. That’s first bank. Don’t get so sucked into your organization that you begin to feel very emotional. You begin to empathize with them. Businesses. Are like that. When the business start going badly. They would not look at whose ox is God. They’ll cut his shot. So, you need to go with the mindset of me first. It is a bargain, but if it is not working for me, I’ll look for what is working for me. if you don’t have that mentality, that mindset That in every business. Your interest As much as you are defending your job, you’re gonna help the company grow, but your interest And your career, ambition must not be. What is your vision? What is your plan? What is the step-by-step methodology? Of getting to that plan. And what is the arrangement that you’re putting by the side? To reinforce. The target and your mission. If you don’t have it. Then you are not yet ready for the career breakthrough. And that is why you need to do this what analysis? For your strength. What do I do? Well in life? Weaknesses. What hurts me back? The strength, what makes me stand out? Opportunities. Where are the chances to grow or private? And threats. What are those things that could derail my career? You need to use these short analysis. For your career planning. Pivot decisions. Confidence building. Job interviews. Or personal brand building. And you know what? Let me give you a tip. You need to be blunt honest. Be honest. But be kind to yourself. Be kind to yourself. Comparison is the killer of joy. Be honest first, but be kind to yourself. As for impute from mentors or trusted peers. Use it to form your career strategy. Because the Short Analysis tool will connect yourself awareness. To opportunity recognition. Helping you to own your growth part. When you do this. The chances are that you will understand. Who you are? And what you have set your mind. To achieve. And that will help you a lot. In. Your career building. I think that. Is where I’m gonna end this conversation. And I’ll wait for your question. And thank you. For listening. Very attentive. and like I said, We are all in this journey. Your facilitator has not even gotten to the field. I Would like iron sharpened iron. Will keep on sharpening, the countenance of our friends. We keep learning. And that is the only way we can grow. Thank you and God Blessing. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: He? Men. Well, loaded. Thank you so much Dr. Emmanuel For making out time to. Take us through these cause in fact, like you said, is actually a course. In fact, I don’t even know what to say. but, For me, I know. I have gained a lot from This session. But we live it open for people to ask their questions. For us to ask our questions. Alex said, He feels like, I just had a Harvard MBA lecture, honestly, honestly. You know. I don’t know people that didn’t come or didn’t join for today. I’m sure they have. I mean, they lost a lot but for us that here, If you have any question for Dr. Emmanuel. I know. if we give it few minutes again to take some questions, It’s not bad at all. Please, I remember Bello was raising his hand and he said At the end of the lecture, that he’s gonna ask his question below. Are you here Do you want to take your question here? And if you have your question, either, if you have your question, if you didn’t type it on the chart or you raise your hand and the question will be taken. Then why are you here? So I can take >> Bello Abdulmalik: Yes. Okay. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: All right, go ahead. >> Bello Abdulmalik: Thank you very much. This has been a fantastic lecture. I enjoy this. I always enjoy the literature, It’s a good drive. so, my question is about, >> Emmanuel Agu: He? AB. >> Bello Abdulmalik: because from my personal experience, in my previous work, I had this challenge with a colleague where I >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: Hello Bello. Sorry I’m Doctor is that >> Emmanuel Agu: You know what? I’m listening to him. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: All right. >> Emmanuel Agu: You say, you have this challenge in your previous place of work. >> Bello Abdulmalik: Yes, about leveraging and then showcasing your talent as a visibility. >> Emmanuel Agu: Muh. >> Bello Abdulmalik: so what we do teamwork I share ideas me why this colleague go behind my part to share with our group aid and everything. So we’re having a consolidated meeting She takes the lamb light and everything so that’s normally feels the ifuse. So I always find it difficult when we are trying to do it. Teamwork less analyze this whole idea and then If you can share it, maybe an approach on how I can navigate that because I feel I’ve not been able to resolve that we’re doing it. Teamwork, you share an idea. Some other people take the credits in a, and maybe another upper discussion. they take the credits out to navigate that. So then when you talk about How you can get promotion in your work because you said, you need your statistics and everything. So something pop up in my head I feel I should shave. You can help us review that if you can’t do a weekly. A weekly review of what you’ve achieved in a week, what you achieved in the month and what you have to be cutter. So that really helps in the doing one-on-one discussion with line managers or the empty of the company. It’s really helps so please guide us up. >> Emmanuel Agu: What? You went through or you’re still going to have gone to it. Like, I stated we are four assistant brand manager. Working on my Guinness. And then we’ll do the job and somebody takes up the job. And go and use it to do show and tell. Look. You don’t have to be gentleman about it. But at the same time, you don’t have to be violent. You must find the way to show your work. It is not arrogance. It is not bad behavior. You must have a way to show your work. if you have appointed a mentor in that business, The blessing will tell you what to do. Most times is when an organization and we’re struggling. Because there are people who are in those organization even before you join. They understand the dynamics of how the business work. The place I currently work. Now, when I got in the it didn’t take me up to Two weeks. To know the principalities and the Powers. In that organization. The movers and the shakers. The people who have the ears of the empty and the years of the esco. I quickly adopted one. For me to make any move at this early time of joining. I will clarify some things from one of these power broker that have appointed as safe a mentor. He will say Good this way, don’t go this way. If you go this route you’re gonna get your fingers born. Because the new environment. You need guidance irrespective of what, you know. That you need guidance. Does not make you less human. It’s just you need to understand the operational dynamics. Of the place. that you just join the evil people who say, when you bring a new foul into a new environment, it starts with one leg. And it will be moving with one leg. because you need to study all the other files within the neighborhood to know what is going on before to start trading with two legs. Relate these to a mentor a much senior person in that business. And now he will shock you with what you need to do. Don’t die in silence. Yes, the 48 Laws of Power. Says never outshine the master. He did not say never shine. He said, Do not assign the master. But he did not say you should not shine. So there are levels where you can show your work. And there are levels your master can take it up to the next level. But people need to know. Need to see and need to feel your contribution. You are not just a number. You are incredible, partner in that business. That will be my answer to. Your first question. The second question is about the remind me again. >> Bello Abdulmalik: Okay, it’s about the unusual. That’s justify your promotion with the land. manager. >> Emmanuel Agu: Yes. the best way if you have a very crooked and wicked line manager, Get your KPIs. Sorted out at the beginning of the year. Know what you expected to do, be very clear. About your kids. And track your KPIs. Weekly. Monthly and quarterly. How do you track them? When I join Nigerian theories, I had a good life manager, the marketing director but nevertheless Every week. And meet with him every Tuesday. To review the things that I did last week. And to bring to his notice, the things that I plan to do that week. because our sales numbers, retail numbers from trade, Comes in on Monday. I don’t hold that meeting with him on Monday. so, when they send the sales report on Monday, I will use the report, the sales volume cells for all the brands under my care. I have. On weekly and monthly basis. And then I have a dashboard where I report the brand health. Numbers. When if sauce release them on quarterly basis, So week by week. He is knowledgeable about what I’m going to do and what I have done in the past. And for every of those conversation, I document everything that we have said. Oh Emmanuel. Well done, fantastic. It is documented. You can be telling me fantastic and well done, 52 weeks in a year. And all of a sudden, I don’t know what these guys doing. That will be you lying against your conscience and lying against documented evidence. so, when you are working with line managers, Of that nature. Make sure you have proof. Of your efforts and proof of your contribution. All well documented, And that will become visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. It becomes an incontrovertible evidence, no man can disprove it. Is that okay? >> Bello Abdulmalik: Aside. >> Emmanuel Agu: Any other question people? >> Bello Abdulmalik: Okay, so I was part of your class. The Executive MBA at Room Business Screen, October That was the very first lecture, let me ask that I’ve accidentally lecture before. >> Emmanuel Agu: That again. >> Bello Abdulmalik: I was part of your lecture at the room business school. That is a executive MBA class in October. >> Emmanuel Agu: Okay. I don’t know, so many people or summer online people, you know? You is, if you school online. They look. >> Bello Abdulmalik: The wrong business school, physical not the online class. >> Emmanuel Agu: Or okay. Okay, fine. >> Bello Abdulmalik: The new camp was at. >> Emmanuel Agu: Yeah. Okay. I love that please. I don’t know why they keep on taking me to. The good campus. All right, any other question? Charles, you raise your hand? >> Okeke Charles: Hello. Good evening sir. Okay, thank you. >> Emmanuel Agu: Yes, I can hear you clearly. >> Okeke Charles: Yes. Oh, thank you, Dr. Emmanuel for this insightful. Topics today, I really enjoyed so much and I would like to see. I am Very glad that you pushed Mr. Amici, you know, towards the right direction Because he’s one of the people. I actually, like, they look up to, oh, in that professional career. He’s one of the people I go on to LinkedIn and is their profile. I’m checking off Faith. I’m like, Oh wow, I mean he may not be here but having to know that. Okay. You in a way connected to him is really nice to me. Oh, I my name is Charles Okeke;. I am also a graduate though Cook University. I work with Dr. Chin. Engagement officer. So I have the series of questions here. And there are photos. It’s just some series of, you know, your The campaigns you did for you know, different brands. I would like to actually reach of them was your most successful you know marketing. or branding campaign and what made it very effective. >> Emmanuel Agu: Muh. >> Okeke Charles: Okay. >> Emmanuel Agu: It one of my iconic marketing excellence. In this industry. because it was, >> Okeke Charles: Okay. >> Emmanuel Agu: That nobody gave a chance. Even within Nigerian theories, nobody cares. the brand was set up in what we in a strategy we called Micro Battle, Our big brands are Star. Good Heineken, Martina Amstel. Then we launched a Strongbow apple cider. And nobody. What are you doing with value for money? Brand profit wise is not profitable. In brand strategy, you must understand the concept of micro button. The Micro Battle Strategy. Was. These guys have already. Are trending in the East with Hero. We need to put something there to checkmate the They are training in the West with traffic. We need to put good back to checkmate them. We may not be putting much money and effort in these, but we’re just using it to monitor them. Just like when you come into the CSD territory, Coca Cola is using Schweppes. To mirror everything. Every other national CSD brand is doing So you do Trackman, you will never see a Coke Chapman or these UC shrapment. You do mojito. You’ll never see a Coke mojito. You see schweppe mojito you do whatever you call it. >> Okeke Charles: Yeah. >> Emmanuel Agu: The variant you have created Coca-Cola. We use Schweppes to me, right? That is the micro battle strategy. So, nobody gave this brand a chance to succeed. But when I lay my hand on it, Being an Igbo man who understand. The cultures of my people. I develop a strategy that is very unconventional to brand building. In Heineken world and in Nigerian beauties. >> Okeke Charles: He? >> Emmanuel Agu: And that unconventional strategy. Was. looking at the values of the Igbo man, These strategy stemmed out from Prophet saw Gift. Gift hosted onion model. Of cultural communication. the onion model of cultural communication talked about Symbols, he talked about the rituals. It talked about heroes. And it talks about values. so, In the symbol heroes. >> Okeke Charles: Single. >> Emmanuel Agu: Rituals. I decided to pick two elements from the hospital on your model. And that is symbol. And values. On the symbol beat. I chose the Niger Bridge. >> Okeke Charles: Yeah. >> Emmanuel Agu: And put the bridge on the label of life. >> Okeke Charles: Yeah. >> Emmanuel Agu: The beginning, we call it the Bridge of Progress. And later, we connected the brand as the brand for progress. You all know. That any man that call himself an Igbo man? Driving through Lagos to the eastern Heartland. Would never call himself, whom he would land until he gets to the Niger Bridge. Niger Bridge. Miracle’s Hope. In Miracle Success and Little Wonder the Eastern gateway was craving for the second Niger Bridge. You are from God Blessing. You are from our back. You are going back to Lagos after. >> Okeke Charles: See. >> Emmanuel Agu: You have waived bye-bye to your fathers and your mothers and everybody. Are you driving to Lagos? Not until you cross that Niger Bridge and set sail in Asaba. You have not left the Igbo land. One minute, I need to sort out something. >> Okeke Charles: Okay, so >> Emmanuel Agu: So that bridge. To the Eagles. So, I put the Greek on the label. >> Okeke Charles: He? >> Emmanuel Agu: That is under symbol. And may, I also tell you That the competitor that will fighting with is also strategic marketers. The Herobranding the East. Puts on their label. The biafraid flag. Half of the yellow sun. And when they put that label, The bathroom flag on their label. We got to a point where Hero became. It was almost adored in the East. Young men will buy these brand, they put it on the table and they will give you a salute military salute. So, why they went on the African flag? I went to the bridge. At the Resonates. With the Eagles. And then I went again and throws the values. In the profit of state on your model of cultural communication. The Eagles have good and bad values, just like every other ethnic. Representation in the world. But I decided to go. For their good values. In conducting that. It can true. That. if you don’t know that someone is able by Outlook, if you see these three characters in him, you can make an accurate prediction that this might be an evil person. And I call it the DNA of the Ebooks. One is entrepreneurship. To his cosmopolitaness. And three is sociability. These came out very strong. as the positive values that you can use to identify the eagles. the entrepreneurial everywhere, the apprenticeship scheme and everywhere there is buying and selling. If today law mosque discovered the mass and people can breathe in there and build their house. You see somebody selling paper spare parts there, When you are ship. Cosmopolitaness. They are everywhere. In the world, the life exists. Sociability. They love the things of life. The socialized. And understanding these three DNA. I put the life brand. >> Okeke Charles: He? >> Emmanuel Agu: On these three pillars. On the thriller of entrepreneurship. I created the progress booster campaign. Where we ought people. To submit their business ideas, in a radio show. We have in the east. Eastern Nigeria and we set up a panel of expert entrepreneurs to interview these people. Once. This expert judges, entrepreneurs. validates that your proposal, your business proposal is feasible. The brand gives you 250,000. To go and do your business on in that. No, executive handcuff. I started with 50 empowering 50 people. And people were wondering, what does the beer brand has to do with? The barring people giving the money to do their business. they didn’t know I was executing a campaign on the pillar of entrepreneurship, which is a core cardinal, DNA of the Eagles in terms of values. And then I moved to sociability. How do we bring sociability to life these social life of an Igbo man? I look at dance. I look at music. Music seems to cut it. Because then, There is a popular music Jerry in the East known as High Life. and because of the connotation of that word, high life, With the beer brand name of life. There seems to be symmetry there. Seems to be married between the words. The purpose of High Life Music. >> Okeke Charles: He? >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: Is mute. >> Emmanuel Agu: Is one class one class. The Papers of the Music, Jerry of High Life in the East. Oliver, the Cochrane is dead. I’ll let you come have died. Morocco. Mama, the car dead? Name all of them. Oscarsadebe dead. So, how do we recreate? These high life music. And bring it to life. To interpret that pillar of sociability. And that led, me and my team. into signing flavor as the brand ambassador, for life, for life being The first signing flavor and later will sign in phyno. And then we use flavor and phenom as an anchor. To create a program. We called the search for the next King of High Life in Igboland. And it becomes. An event. That we now ask people who knows how to do song I like music. >> Okeke Charles: He? >> Emmanuel Agu: Come no compete. And at the end of the year, we crown a high life king. And that was flavorful became the brand ambassador for life till date. Seven years long after I have left Nigerian Beauties. That is the stability platform. Then on the cosmopolitaness. The evils and global, they are everywhere in the world. How did we interpret this by brand execution? >> Okeke Charles: The most. >> Emmanuel Agu: We consider what we call. The Homo organiru, carnival children of progress. the sign that an Igbo man is doing well, in life, anywhere, he is in the globe, is a he respond to every Christmas. If a UK and you are in America, you are any part of Europe. >> Okeke Charles: Don’t mind the month. >> Emmanuel Agu: It must be private, you have never returned, 10 years, 15 years, you’ve never set your feet in Igbo land. If you like become dangote in that place, you’re not doing well. So that Oh, Morgan we created it and we move it across the five, Eastern States capital. Year, after year. and that program, Starts from December 13. And ends December 23rd. You know that most of these I just got back people. Many of them comes in early enough in December. When the transport fair has not gone up quite high, the coming early enough. they stay in the city. And then they’ll start. Returning to the villages from 2013. so, we created that carnival where the diaspora will meet with the locals and then we use Our high life Kings. That we we crown in the year to join. All the other musical artists that will entertain them and it becomes A gathering for Georgia. so, These three activities. Sit squarely. On the values of the Igbo Man. The tillers were amplified into Executional strategy. And just doing these. For three years to four years. These brand went from 1 or 5,000 hectolitas to 3.1 million. When you understand the people, They are psychology, they are leanings things that make them tick. And you build your brand to evoke that sentiment. You will capture them for life. That is what I did. In the other question people. Only you. >> Okeke Charles: Thank you very much that. Yes, I have two more questions, very straight to the points questions. Very >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: Sorry. Sorry Charles let’s take because of our time, right? We have Ebenezer and Miracle that raising their hand up. And we have one question and the chat box. So because of our time, let’s just take these questions and then be able to close because our time has been stretched. Okay. Um, so Mr. Ben is up please. Can we take your question now? Thank you. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: Um, thank you very much, Dr. Chi, and thank you very much for organizing this wonderful birthday. Gifts, I think. What does the what do we call this? You should be called. the this, that the lectures that we we do for I think there’s a name they call it, it’s not I’m trying to remember the word. Okay. But you know, something a colloquium. Yes, colloquium. So I want to really thank Dr. Agu for Selflessly selflessly, selflessly. Giving on giving of himself, he’s knowledge, is expertise the share. I’ve been watching on YouTube but I think it was connected through me. So there is no the comments are talking about, there’s no option for comments on YouTube, how to join on Google Meets. And I just wanted to Thank him for the good job. The research is done and the way he poured himself into the various. Indications, The various. Anecdotes. and story lies. You know, it really connected with me. I really want to appreciate that. The zone. The this one of genius or the area of genius that you mentioned as a leader. >> Emmanuel Agu: Muh. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: watching others grow on the you you’re trying to you’re trying to get mentored as well as mentor or this. How can you actually help? To pinpoint identify their competencies. I really know that they’re working hard because there’s something that you say it when you were talking about that Ghanaian the incidence of the Ghanaian, money brand manager I was on YouTube, Then I was watching on YouTube and you said that who acts for extension of our leave and then they had to transfer an assistant brand, my brand manager to Ghana. And you talked about this ability, so it means that some people could be very competent, but it’s not showing how can we as a manager as a leader? Be able to identify? Because I know you have encouraged people to be very extroverted or at least beyond the violent as you called it. Please, can you traumalize on that. So that, at least, we can, you know, one way Rewarding. Well analyzing. We’re doing it objectively, and we’re doing it Accurately, in terms of competency assessment, It’s just shortly, please, thank you very much. >> Emmanuel Agu: Is I do what I tell my people to do. And I will explain. A leader. Brings the weather. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: Hmm. >> Emmanuel Agu: First and foremost. And make sure I expose my people. To the place. Where they will gain disability. It is my job. I am like a coach. I need to sell my people. But in exporting them. I will consciously let you know. That this meeting. Is a miracle man meeting. This meeting. This is how you’re going to. Comport and conduct yourself. You need to let them know. Because certain meeting. Decisions that businesses make today. 19th of them. Stems are from the meeting. 90% of them. A meeting in the subject. Area of your expertise. Closing. Your mouth is closing your destiny. In such a high profile meeting silence is not gooding, silence is death. Short and simple. When I’m walking in like, a sera, I did not have money. To hire professionals from multinational company. Because I have limited budget. To recruit, but I need to feel the team. so, I resulted Into hiring. So many people. Who has been looking for opportunity to come to the client side. I brought low cost. What I took it upon myself to build him. I created what I call Learning Friday. Where I take people into the boardroom, or to our marketing meeting room. And I’ll take one topic. I could be teacher now. So the things why the teeth for room business, also one that is I’m just come and teach my people. this is how this is on this, how this is done if you’re new higher and I’ll recruit you I will ask you to give me your flash pen and I will load presentations for you. And I kid you not, if you’re humble enough to go through that presentation, you’ve just had an MBA degree with a certificate. so, Your conscious, you know your your your consciousness. About making your people a better people. When they see that you are deliberate and intentional. Of making them better, who will not want to be better? so, when we get into a meeting, one of the things I encourage people to do, is it please? This is marketing. This is not robotics. It’s not machine learning. So, you can say, you don’t have something to say. I want the institution where the owner of the business. is in in a meeting and he will see ideas, being shot from different angles in the team. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: Hmm. >> Emmanuel Agu: But please. I will encourage you to always say something in the meeting. but at the same time, Do not say off point. because there are also things that you will see You would draw a question mark on your head. Do not be asking How did we hire this one? >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: it put >> Emmanuel Agu: How did it? How did she get in here? You know. but one of the techniques that I’m also taught them is, If it is not a subject area that you, Understand very well. When the meeting is going on. He’s studying what people? What the presenter is presenting. The studying? What? the other colleague are saying, but for the Father that you have made up your mind, you have to say something Even if it is to summarize, what somebody has said. Or what two or three people have said you just summarize it? even if it is to agree with what Charles have said, and you put a little impute, You have said something. Because to who brain is giving. Something is required of the person to say. Any evaluating people. We don’t move around with the such light or microscope to view. What is in your heart when your head. It is from what you say. That people will begin to evaluate how you think how you reason? How you can interpret things. And if I’m the one that have hired you I know you have those competence. and if I have created an enabling environment for you, to be able to say your mind, You should be able to say it. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: I, >> Emmanuel Agu: I’m not the leader that if my people are shining. And then I’ll be feeling bad. I want the situation as I’m saying something. Yes. Like what the marketing director of faith? We can also go these direction. We can. Also it shows that the team is hot. But you must learn. How to say a word and if it’s the meeting that have minutes, how come your name is not in the minute? At least if nothing in. That you move, the emotion for adjournment. If that is the last thing, you can see. Do you understand my point? So in that way. And the moment you start it. It is like cancer. The moment you started. It will start eating deep in you. You will always feel the urge to make contribution. It is an invisible barrier. People need to break. In a workplace. Don’t say. Even though, I know what they are saying, and just that if I say this now, I don’t know, how do you feel faith? Say it. By saying it. You may start learning how to say the right one. And you know, there are various levels of accountability. There are things and assistant brand manager will say in a meeting that is forgivable. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: I, >> Emmanuel Agu: But not be permissible. If a marketing man just says the same thing. It is in the meeting that social plan begins to happen. You begin to know who. Have the liver, the buyer. The God to face senior management. you need to have got And you need to have God. and if possible, you need to have gone, To succeed. Because career is the warfare. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: God God. >> Emmanuel Agu: It. You don’t want to know it. God, God and God. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: Okay. Okay. So Alright, thank you. >> Emmanuel Agu: Because you need to shoot sometimes. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: Mmm. >> Emmanuel Agu: You need to shoot. Sometimes, the best form of defense is attack. So, you need to have got God, and God. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: Thank you. >> Emmanuel Agu: Any more question people. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: I also. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: Get so much about Emmanuel. Yeah, thank you so, so much. So we have them. I think we will take this as the last question from Miracle–. Miracle was also listening on the YouTube, but she needed to speak here. So she had to move over to the meat. So, Miracle Deck, can you take your question now? Thanks. >> Miracle Okonkwo: Okay, good evening, everyone. Oh, this game called family can hear me clearly. >> Emmanuel Agu: Yes, I can hear you clearly. >> Miracle Okonkwo: All right. Good evening, sir. Good evening, Ma. It’s my first time on this platform and I am, I am thrilled, you know, with the depth of knowledge being shared for once of time. Let me just go straight to my question. So it’s it’s quite exciting to hear the things I have achieved. So and you know, picking up your products and you know, getting it out there in the market and achieving mind blowing mouse songs. I’m also in markets about, however, I am working in the bank I’m walking in the bank, and I feel like the marketing what we’re selling is quite different because you know, you basically just selling service which, which is different from, you know, picking up a product that wasn’t doing well. and then getting out there and getting it to sell. So my question is how to navigate growth Change and leaving your footsteps in the sense of time from the angle of the masses. I’m saying the angle of the masses in the sense that you know, Um, Interestingly the last question and the way you answered it. Also open my eyes to something about just picking up in a meeting, you know, no matter what. Because, you know, you also grow in that way but assuming you’re working in a place anything for instance, when you have A lot of. >> Emmanuel Agu: The videos. Okay. >> Miracle Okonkwo: Many, many, many branches that you don’t even get, you know, exact same director, you know, how do you How do you make an impact? Right? I I did operations if I move the markets in and you know, questions, it quite easy because I made it a I mean it’s a how do I put it now? My anyway you walk into any branch, I walked in and you talk of me you know that I’m a very customer-centric person but the marketer because you’re dealing with this customers directly. Yes. But the marketer. Yeah. The rules and regulation of you establishment the policies, you know? I would say, most of the brands are more income focused than customer-centric. Right. So and then you’re the one interfacing with these customers directly Unfortunately, he also have competition. you know, the laws that have been there ages and the ones that are really hungry about getting customers in faith providers bank, for instance. Yes, they have a way of just pulling customers in, so they have products that they just push out there, which may not make any sense to us that are in house. Well, you know what, they are targeted. Right? So they put this customers in a probably eventually change those policies, but because they’ve drawn, And created loyalty. This customers are not going anywhere. Right. But there you have other brands that are not as That focus in that direction. So they just know. This is the rule. Let’s took to the rule and you are out there trying to sell this product that all the people are selling. But it’s a bit challenging, right? So I’m just looking at how best Grow. >> Emmanuel Agu: I, >> Miracle Okonkwo: I don’t know if you get you really get what I’m saying, right? So >> Emmanuel Agu: Do. >> Miracle Okonkwo: to try, you know, and then you also have a side the entire organization. Right? You also have micro managers like your lives were by yourself some of that. And then one branch is willing to take a deposit as a certain rate and then the other branch doesn’t want to take the deposit because of the liability and risk. I said, balance. So you have all those limits, all those tiny tiny limitations. I mean what you’re expected to meet Your targets, however, you want to go about it. So I just wondering How to navigate that? And climates in the workspace does one two. do you have a mentorship program that one can sign up for those are my Questions. Thank you. >> Emmanuel Agu: Okay, thank you. Miracle number. Let me start from the number two question. I don’t have a mentorship program myself. I need mental. I have mentors. But maybe in the future, I will create one. But what I’m focused in doing is I want to write the marketing book. I want to put, My thoughts, my experience. On brand building. The marketing. Maybe it will benefit the next generation of marketers. because what I’ve seen in this market is Brilliant minds, who have ruled this industry? Work away. from the Marketing business. Gets into retirement. That’s what I think I should do. If I don’t write the book. I will not be truthful to myself and I will not be helpful to the next generation. Question to answer. Question one. You don’t have close proximity to Executive Directors and understand Miracle House walking a bank. So, when you say you’re a marketer, I understand. But what you are truly? Is. You are in sales. Salespeople. And the regional managers regional head. And the rest. Marketing, and corporate comes. Of every bank sits in the head office. so chances are that In every QPR quarterly. Performance review. It is only the region ahead. That I invited to Lagos. To come and defend their numbers. The branch managers are not. The relationship managers are not. And most times on the deposit mobilization meeting. May be depending on how big the bank is or how small it is. Brand managers may be someone. To talk about the deposit position on their branches. Now, looking at that organogram, the weight is stretched. Like I said, break through. Is an intentional compounding. Of your assets and identity. You will start with, who is your immediate boss? If you’re in the branch. Who is the branch manager? Before you will even start looking at the regional head. That manages your cluster on your region. Nothing is as self-assuring and as fulfilling. To a branch head. Or the original head. That you are the rock star in the team. The girl. The woman. The lady that makes things happen. They go to person. When it seems everybody is dropping the ball. You are standing like the Rock of Gibraltar. I have never seen it is in red cases, that have seen people doing excellently well in their job. The forming very well helping their managers to shine and and they have been headed upon I’ve really seen and I’m not saying, It is not available. It is not people don’t experience such. But I have sit in strategy meeting in banks. And I’ve seen how regional head. talks about their people fight about their people, make sure that the people get promoted. Because it is the flows from the original head. To your relationship manager. And down to the rank and fire. So if you focus in delivering your target, And doing the writing, trust me. You break through those barrier. And step by step, you will grow. A good thing. for those of you in sales, Mostly it is primarily in the realistic. If you get a customer, And put the right fund. Nobody can claim your customer serve identity. There’s a way you track all these persons is Miracle’s customer. This person is Salisu’s customer. Rome was not built in a day. But you have to take the step. That you are immediate boss. Sees your effort. Sees the values that are bringing to the table. And sees how you support him. To represent the brand. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: I, >> Emmanuel Agu: When he goes for regional meeting. And in that way, trust me. A man, may not like your faith. But he cannot deny your result. I can tell you. That’s the only thing that I would say. But if you jump him and try to build alliance from HQ, You may burn your fingers. Because nothing is so. Will make someone very uncomfortable. When they know. That someone under them is have not been with an executive director, somebody up there. So he will feel uncomfortable, he will feel that he is not safe. With you in his branch or under his cluster. And that is when the survival instinct was setting. Things are hard. The streets are right. The people who have job everybody is doing, whatever is possible. To keep their job because the times are bad, the times are hard. So, if you see someone who stands as a threat, To your survival. Natural instinct will kick in. And that natural instinct is to fight back. That is the much I can say miracle. I don’t know what I’ve answered your question. Well, this is willing the limitation of my human knowledge. Next question, please. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: All right. Thank you very much, sir. Salisu. Maybe we’ll take your question as the last question before we close salisu. Please, go ahead. I saw that. You’ve been busy your hand. Thank you. >> Salisu Muhd: It. Yeah. Okay. Thank you very much. Good evening. My name is Salisu Muhammad and I happened to be one of the student of Dr. Emmanuel at the room business school. and honestly, We are so impressed from the one and even. these very very lecture that I’m on it. So um so I have a question. Oh I can see I need an advice because I have an AMD, which I’m the GM of the company but No matter what you did. He would never appreciate it. And no matter how I try to show him that, ok. These are the people that are very good. Oh and identify them as one of the key stops that we need to >> Emmanuel Agu: He? >> Salisu Muhd: President, he will deny it. Is always a kind person that if he is not the one. That identifies someone. He don’t believe it. And he’s a camp person like to, you know, hang around with the genius tabs to be listening to the gossiping. so, from there trouble will be starting so actually, I try on my possibly way. I use different ideas but it’s not helping. The only place someone if you are not around but when you are there even if you’re doing something good, He can never encourage you. But if you are not there, you will send it to other people that are social person is a hard-working. Someone is a, you know, it’s a talented. But if you are there, you’re such will not happen. So, I don’t know how. I can, you know, I need an advice of how to go with the search. Thank you. So >> Emmanuel Agu: Salisu this problem. Is complex. But is there a solution? >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: He? >> Emmanuel Agu: I think I have. Worked across someone. Who also shares this kind of problem with me. There are MDs that are like that. They are ego. Will not allow them. To praise you. Or to say you have done well in your presence. When you leave? They’ll be thinking your praises. It is not only your MD. There are so many MD’s in Nigeria that are wired like that. Reason number one. They don’t want to increase salary. the reason number two, They don’t want you to get big headed. And now start feeling like you are a a very strong, cornerstone in the business. But it is wrong. I’m not saying I’m not validating any of these reasons that I stated as part of why they do what they do. Going beyond the gene going to. The junior staff to suck up gossip. There are people like that. but, I tell people. Clear conscience. Fears no accusation. If you do the right thing, Nobody. And you need to own your team. That is the most important. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: On. >> Emmanuel Agu: You need to. The loyalty of your team. if you own the loyalty of your team, There’s nothing the man can do to you. Thirdly. He may also be scared about your competence. You are the GM. Is the end. if there’s a cheat fall on him, now, you take over So you should not be expecting to be telling you congratulation fantastic. This is well done. Because he’s also protecting his seat. And I’m not validating that that is the right behavior. Because if he knows what he’s doing, He should not be afraid of raising people. The people that are always afraid. To raise people or intimidate, people are people who don’t have confidence in themselves. Brother. A candle does not lose its light by lighting. Another candle. This is a mantra and the philosophy that I believe. That, I mean, this class. For meeting everything I know. Teaching people. Not to repeat my mistake. Will not reduce my knowledge. Instead it will sharpen my knowledge. Because by that, by the time I say this over and over and over again, wake me up in the middle of the night. My brain is already in a default setting. A candle. Never loses his light. By lighting on the candles. But that is for men. Who have confidence? Who knows their onions? Who are not scared of anybody. But you see all these ones that will not praise you. Now, go about seeking for gossip. Relax self-confidence. and by extension, Watch them closely. They may not even know the job. So, the crisis. That you need to contain. But in containing our managing this crisis. You need to. Own your team. You need to end the loyalty of your team. Your man and your women under the jurisdiction. Will. Have to. And in their loyalty. you also need to seek for the improvement and their welfare because when they know you can fight for them, They would defend you with the last drop of their blood. It’s the crisis situation. I empathize with you. It is not an ideal and healthy working environment. But why the earth remain it? you have to manage it until you get a better place and I wish you All the luck and the blessing of our life. That’s question. >> Salisu Muhd: Alyssa. I do appreciate. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: Wow. Charles is still insisting that we must take his question and he has dropped one question on the charts. Apologies, everyone. You know, today is a special day, right? The special lecture that we’re having and I’m sure everyone of us is enjoying it. Okay. Charles is asking as someone who is looking to become a chief communication or brand officer in this industry. What advice would you give? I’m sure he’s talking about in Charles is in banking industry that you’re referring to since you’re working in the bank now. >> Okeke Charles: In the corporate industries. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: In any corporate industry. Okay, so he’s looking to become a chief communication or brand officer. What advice would you? Give, Dr. Emmanuel >> Emmanuel Agu: Charles. Room is not built in a day. You need to do SWAT. After it here. You need to find. Your gaps. Gaps to be filled. In attending this career, ambition. and if you can get those gaps field in the workplace, You can end them. By degree. when I make up my mind that I want to be Chief Marketing officer, I want to be. Marketing Director. I want to one day become the chief executive officer. Of a business multinational, local? I sat down. And analyze my gaps. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: just, >> Emmanuel Agu: And those gaps. Who formed? Inform the causes. And the trainings. That I have spent. Good quality sums of money. To acquire. Because when you’re going do this program here, do this one here. People will say he love the reading. Today in the class. Okay. Blessing. Lost Tres. I say yes. I love stress. I like it. You see why? I say you that is in my class. Did you not love stress? Is this what you should be doing with your Saturday? Why are you in the school? Today, I’m going to teach you on Saturday but you still come to class on Sunday and you’re asking me. That I like stress. Stress is part of life. Nothing is achieved in this life on the plateau of God. Maybe accept you a politician. And the guard hand together, money and put you in the office. You not be speaking in security. but if not, You need to. Look at your gaps. What do you need to be the chief communication officer? Do you have the degree in mass communication? Are you a member of the Toastmasters Club? What other courses do you need to take? To prepare you for this role. What is your current role in the office where you are? At their chances for you to pivot to corporate communication department. You can’t be in technical and want to be the chief communication officer. When everything and every day, what you see is machines? In your partnership for growth. In companies that do appraisal after appraiser, you feel a key for G in those days in Guinness Partnership for Good. What you think you are good at? And what direction you want to take your career. What the nationals, granted a flexibility. The MD of Penaltree card in Nigeria to the Shola. Okeke was a computer scientist. He joined the nurse as an IT person. Carrying cables up and down. But he knew that by training. Is an IT person, but by passion he lost what marketing people are doing. And you keep on raising this issue to his boss. I like this acting but this is where I think I will do. I will add more value to the business. And the head of it. Have to sit with the head of marketing to discussion as ambition. and at the end of the day, the Suki, But he’s already a senior person in writing. We can’t bring him to marketing. And putting. as an assistant brand manager, or brand manager or making senior, grandma or making marketing manager to start blessing experience people. when they discussed about him, they ended up Bringing Salah to Marketing. And putting in innovation. Where he will use those crazy ideas. That he has a 90. He started in innovation today is the managing director and not record Nigeria. There is no way he could have gotten to that position if he still doing it. Because penal record is not the righteous company is a drinks company. So if you’re strong in your persuasion, you need to let your boss know. You need to start aligning yourself. Taking courses around corporate communication. If you want us taking a degree and MSC degree, you need to put yourself through it. And then, if it align, okay. Sometimes you get to the office. Start up, not being with the people that are dead. Let them start to be liking you, small small. What it is. They would like this guy. >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: I, >> Emmanuel Agu: If he comes, he is doing make a very good chemistry of our team. There are so many ways to skin a rat. Charles. What you have to do the work. You need to assess yourself. Be honest and be kind. Do you really have what it takes? To be a corporate communicator. When you do that, self-evaluation. And you know that this is what you can do. Give it a shot. Any other question? >> Ebenezer K Oladimeji: He? >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: Thank you very much, Doc. You still want to take another question, sir. Okay. >> Emmanuel Agu: would be the parting shot one for the >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: Alright Charles. Oh yeah, your second your third question. Since you said you have six of them Your thought question, that would be the last thing will close. Charles are you there? >> Okeke Charles: Again here. >> Emmanuel Agu: Yes, you are ahead. >> Okeke Charles: Ok. How do you call me kids, you know, you’re complex? Information. You know on maybe the brand projects that you’re working on to none technical stakeholders. I mean you probably have like you know higher oops that you have to explain and be like, Oh, this is what I want to work on and then it’s most times it comes as Do is they don’t arrivals didn’t arrivals. How do you bypass that? >> Emmanuel Agu: Okay. Um, How to communicate to technical people. >> Okeke Charles: Non-. >> Emmanuel Agu: And get you. >> Okeke Charles: Yeah. >> Emmanuel Agu: Non-technical people. So not technical people. >> Okeke Charles: Don’t technical like stakeholders. Like people. >> Emmanuel Agu: You’re technically Christopher and you want to communicate to non-technical >> Okeke Charles: Yes. >> Emmanuel Agu: Okay. And those not technical people, they’re part of the business. >> Okeke Charles: Yes. >> Emmanuel Agu: And the project you want to embark on will affect everyone, right? >> Okeke Charles: Mmm. I mean, it’s supposed to affect everyone in the more positive way, you know, the non technical people are people who I would say, are In a higher level. >> Emmanuel Agu: Okay. so, There is this thing. That we call the navigate. In innovation. Navigate is the funnel shape, process type. Compliance methodology. where for every stage that they get keeper, If this not technical person. Among the gatekeepers to the project that you want to do. You need to identify? The major gatekeepers. Most times business ideas are shut down. because, There is no proper alignment behind closed doors before you appear at the plenary. Who are the gatekeepers? Who are the Showstoppers? To this project. Do your concept development. Booking meeting with them. One-on-one in their office, get their buying get their bills. when you get their buying get their builds most time, Some of those people, all what they wanted. Is to show. I know this before everyone. Even saw it. It is about feeding their ego. Making them feel very important. Getting into their office sir. I want to share something with you. It’s the thought that is roaming in my head. and there’s no other blessing that can give me a quality impute other than you you know, you are an expert in this area. This massage their ego Carry them along, make them feel more important than they think they are. And when you get these buy-in closed door, By time, you come to the plenary to present your project or your project paper. There will be no hindrance. There will be no objection. Most time people kill project, not because the project is not good. But because he he feels like you neglected him. You neglected his office. You think is not important. So Dr. Emmanuel >> Emmanuel Agu: Right. >> The Intrapreneurs Trybe: I don’t know if you haven’t last word for us before we go, thank you. >> Emmanuel Agu: I’ll say, let’s keep pushing. Let’s just keep pushing. Never give up. Never give up. Keep pushing. You never can tell when your breath through will come It’s only a dead man that have no, right? Or no access. Or no identity. Once you’re dead, you’re dead. There’s no card. There’s no faitha career faith. That person But as long as we are alive, Never give up. Never lose. Hope, keep pushing. And when you are in doubt, It to the man behind the mirror. Encourage yourself. Most times situations of life warrants that. You need to quit yourself as a man. You need to look at the mirror and speak to that man. And give yourself the necessary, moral booster, the confidence that you need. Things may not always be. All right, things may not always be rosy. Storms of life, will come. But whoever that survived those storms is strong. And part of the things that you’re doing today. The learning curves, the experiences will come handy. Should there be storms? So that you can withstand you need to be resilient you need to be faith and are both all Be honest and kind to yourself. Our careers is in our hand, but it’s also in the hand of God, but we need to do that which God has equipped us to do when we play our part. Then God will crown our effort, keep pushing.
