I’m going to venture a guess that what happened was inconsistent hydration leading to an overly firm skin early in development, followed by a high hydration period that led to swelling and a burst along the skin, followed by drying out of the outer layer of flesh inside the fruit and seeds spilling out of the ovaries.

Okay, so I would guess that there was some kind of damage to the fruit at some point, but not enough for it to rot, and it kept growing? But it just looks wrong and I wouldn’t eat it.

Reminds me of the cucumbers I planted that produced weird yellow unidentifiable fruits… creepy yet funny. Love the experimental aspect of gardening!
