It’s an Italian that is popular with locals and visitors to Northumberland alike. But now a very famous restaurant in the region is looking rather different, as it re-opens with a very different aesthetic after a major overhaul to its interior and branding.

If you asked anyone in Northumberland to name you an Italian restaurant off the top of their heads, chances are many of them will reply with two words – Lollo Rosso. A staple of Morpeth’s dining scene for years and years now, the Bridge Street haunt in the heart of the buzzing town centre, is a place that many people head to, whether they’re after a bite to eat to unwind after a busy day at work, a romantic date night, a happy hour catch up with friends or a family celebration.

You only need glance at the reviews for Lollo Rosso, or Lollo Rosso Italia, to give the restaurant its full name, to see just how highly regarded it still is with all of its customers, with its current Trip Advisor rating being a near perfect 4.7 out of a possible 5 stars. And now its regulars need to get used to a change of surroundings at their favourite Italian, with Lollo Rosso taking to social media towards the end of last week to reveal the results of a makeover.

Posting a photo of the restaurant with its usual grey walls replaced with green, the owners wrote: ‘Introducing a brand new look for your favourite Italian restaurant… Out with the grey… we are going GREEN! Over the past few months we have been making subtle changes to our branding, and we are now pleased to fully introduce the new look!

All our menus have been re-designed and we love them. We chose green not only for the style, but also to reflect our commitment to working with local suppliers and bringing you outstanding quality Italian food! (and because green is the first colour on the Italian flag!.’

Offering assurances that, while Lollo Rosso is now looking different, everything else will remain the same, the statement added: ‘ You can still expect the same amazing food, service and atmosphere from your favourite restaurant, just with a new look going forward. See you all soon.’
