That’s awful OP. Did they make it right?

Steak is too expensive to get something you didn’t order. If it’s not great whatever. But if you ask for a temp and they don’t give you that temperature send it back!!

Valid reason to send it back. If your medium rare steak looks like a pork chop the kitchen messed up. You should enjoy what you’re paying for.

As a greek, steak is not something people really get in greece. (Greeks love their steaks overcooked)

For some suggestions, try the pork souvlaki sandwich instead of the lamb gyro, and also try keftedes (greek meatballs)

As a Greek, my mom never ever didn’t cook a steak to well done. I always felt it was some old school ‘lived in the horio’ shit to cook all meat to well done because their butchered food was (thought to?) kill germ stuff etc etc

This looks almost like overcooked pork chop. Sorry, mate.

Want a good steak you’ll have to come to Merica

You’re visiting Greece and order a steak??? Don’t believe “steak culture” is a thing there. Delightful seafood from what I’ve heard, though!

My Italian relatives always cook meat to very well done. Yuck.
And my Irish relatives, very rare.

Yeah in the US I’d send this back everyday. A road probably not just because you never really know what cultural nuance you’re walking into.

Like trying to order a Florentine steak medium etc, just ain’t gonna happen.

Im always scared to send food back incase they spit in it.

  12. În Europe they cut it super thin… It’s like they try to make Korean BBQ. So if you want to make it med rare you need to take some booze in your mouth… Lit a lighter in front and then spit :))

If I want to make steak I go and buy a big cut so I slice them how I want.

  13. The flip side is Italy, especially florentine beef “ Bistecca Fiorentina” always served rare or blue… good luck getting them to cook it medium-rare!🤌🏼🤣

  14. It’s perfect for you especially, big piece of meat

  15. Well yeah they gave you pork, of course you send it back

Once I ordered ‘Biftek’ in a Greek Taverna in- no shit- the Czech countryside. It turned up and it was a big pile of dodgy looking pink mince that I suspect was brains.

I ate it, it wasn’t bad, sometimes you gotta roll with what other places throw at you.

If you’re in Greece, try the goat or lamb. They prepare that much more often and are excellent at it!

You won’t find a lot of good steak outside of the US and especially in Europe (I know exceptions exist)

2 things. 1. Medium rare isn’t really a thing in most of Europe especially southern Europe. 2 steak isn’t very popular in Greece and it’ll almost always be well done as that’s how it’s preferred locally

  20. lukkynumber

Did they use a meat slicer to get it that thin?

Brother, that’s just how they eat meat. It starts in the Balkans, goes on to Greece and Turkey, and is all over the countries down south. They’re not really known for their medium-rare eating habits. They like their meat hammered and cooked dead. Unless you’re in a five star establishment, don’t expect a delicate steak. Instead, enjoy this stuff with some nice sauces. It’s not disgusting or anything. It’s just how they know it.

They made a steak look like an overcooked pork chop. I’m impressed.
