I like other brands but I keep coming back to Patagonias.

Agree, but just like any item in Patagonia brand , sardines are also from the high quality ingredients , mostly packed by hand and have very clean flavour profile. Anything and everything you could possibly want from this experience. Love the taste, I almost feel judged eating them with a non designated fork.

Had the spicy white anchovies in some pasta the other day and they were killer

The mussels are delectable but hard to rationalize for me on a regular basis when they’re almost 4x the cost of Trader Joe’s.

It’s definitely a very small percentage of their overall revenue. I’m sure you could look it up exactly but I’d guess easily less than 5% of their revenue but likely closer to 1.5-2%

So they aren’t as concerned about margins as much it’s just something core adjacent that lends to the following of their brand. A type of advertising you could say. So they can allow their quality to price ration to be more competitive than most.

I stocked up recently when they were $3.99/tin. After, I wished I had bought out their entire stock at that price.

My guess is once they have some market share prices will go up and/or quality will go down.

I think they’re good and I have extremely limited experience (only the garlic mackerel and lemon caper mackerel) but I don think the taste itself was amazing. The lemon caper was for sure solid but the garlic seemed a little muted in my opinion. I’d rather have the piri piri Bela IMO and Bela is cheaper. My selection is largely KO however, so I’m no expert on tinned fish

Their white sardines with lemon are bomb

It’s because they actually practice what they preach. Mackerel is much harder to sustainably fish so they’re pulling that line later this year. I have to assume if you’re willing to cut a very popular line because it’s not meeting your values, then your product quality will be high as well.

    Patagonia doesn’t disappoint.

It’s true. I’m new to the game but the beans and corn one is 🔥 so far all of them that I’ve tried have been delicious but way too expensive and not enough food

  11. For those looking I often see them at outdoor stores (REI). Also Whole Foods.
