Pizze Fritta

Fresh pasta has a distinct quality that becomes apparent the moment you take a bite. It has a tender and delicate texture while still being al dente.

Jill Gray and Dario Monni of Tortello take great pride in this craftsmanship. Their family-owned restaurant is located in the heart of Wicker Park on Division Street.

The Italian hotspot is recognized for its handmade pastas, made with premium Italian imports and locally sourced ingredients.

The dine-in menu features fresh, simple salads, housemade focaccia with ricotta and honey, a variety of seasonal pastas, rotating weekend specials, and a curated selection of wine, beer, and cocktails—all reflecting the warmth and simplicity of Italian tradition.

And starting this weekend, Tortello will introduce something new to the menu: the Pizza Fritta.

Very few Chicago restaurants offer this handheld snack, which was conceptualized as a Napoleon street food in the 19th century.

Tortello’s Pizza Fritta is a satisfying yet light and fluffy handheld bite made with fried housemade pizza dough, fresh burrata flown in weekly from Puglia, diced Spence Farms heirloom tomatoes, a drizzle of high-quality Lorenzo No. 5 Olive Oil from Sicily, and fresh basil.

When will Tortello’s Pizza Fritta be available?

Tortello’s Pizza Fritta will be available for lunch every Friday through Sunday.
