July 24th in Utah is known as Pioneer Day, or Pie-and-beer day for us local heathens. So I took my first shot at smoking a pizza on my Weber Smokey Mountain. I'm happy how it turned out, and I had enough dough for a second pizza so I made a pizza twist and calzone for fun.

I’ve never used the WSM for a pizza, but I grill pizzas all the time on my propane grill. I have one of those ceramic stones, and for that method. it’s like the 5 minutes at 500 degrees. I’ve never really considered heat the max temp a WSM could be brought up to would be. Did it get really Smokey?

  8. Tried to celebrate pie and beer day, but Slackwater was slammed. Had some other not so good pizza but no beer. Oh well.
