I think I’m done messing with any recipe that has almond extract involved. It usually does take over flavor wise & it’s a ya either love it or hate it type thing. I personally don’t mind it, but I learned my boyfriend hates it. lol. Fair to say I am done w almond extract

Absolutely terrible! Send them over to me immediately for disposal.

Seriously, I love almond extract and those look amazing.

  3. Ladder-Careful

Yes, almond extract is very dominant. I think I’m going to start adding a tad bit less than what recipes call for

  4. khyamsartist

I fully relate to your bf. Almond can be cloying, I do not like extract or paste.

  5. yungtruffle

Almond extract either making things delicious or absolutely ruins it, there is no in between haha

  6. TragicaDeSpell

Those pastries look amazing! I love almond extract and would gladly help you dispose of these beauties.

  7. auntiepink007

The shame is that your bf didn’t like it: I think it’s delicious. Those look absolutely divine!!

  8. epidemicsaints

I pour a tiny amount into the cap then pour a tiny amount of that into a spoon and that’s how much I use in an entire cake. Not even the size of a pea. I love it but too much is abominable. It’s like eating shampoo and conditioner.

  9. Choice_Lawyer_7976

I love almond extract send your stock my way

  10. CarAlternative5684

They look great! I am also not a fan of it.

  11. Traditional-Nail9563

I thought I was the only almond extract hater 😭 I can’t have anything with it

  12. timesnewlemons

I just want to shove these in my face like a hamster

  13. stolenfires

    Those look delicious!

If you don’t want to use almond extract but still want to capture some almond flavor, you could always sprinkle sliced almond on the finished product?

  14. Brojangles1234

If almond extract is the only this wrong with them than I will do you both the favor of eating them all

  15. GlitterDreamsicle

Those look delicious. I have an aversion to almond flavor and have found that almond extract doesn’t benefit anything unless you want that flavor specifically. Because it is so overpowering, anything more than a drop is alot.

  16. miteymiteymite

Was it real almond extract or artificial? That could be why. Even with real, I find that not all brands are equal.

  17. BaileySeeking

OP is about to have a line of us outside their place fighting for these. They look delicious and I love anything almond! I get it though, my mom is not a nut person and gets her own dessert a lot if I make something that my dad and I will eat with nuts.

  18. makimikimya

I maybe use 1/8 the amount of Almond extract called for, if I use it at all.

  19. Ok-Trainer3150

Oh I wish I had your problem. It’s one of my favorite flavors.

  20. RyansMom60467

I add almond extract to everything! Brownies, cookies, cream of wheat, oatmeal, Greek yogurt. I can’t get enough!

  21. Careless-Standard-26

I’d fill those bad boys with some almond paste and maybe add a little extra almond extract

  22. sharingiscaring219

You could try a 1/4 or 1/8th of a tsp next time and see if that’s better. He may also just be really sensitive to almond flavoring. Doesn’t mean you can’t still make things you like 💕 just make a half-batch without it

  23. chain_me_up

I totally get your bf, whenever its in sugar cookies or something it’s all I taste 😭 these are still beautiful OP, I hope you enjoy them, maybe offer some to coworkers? (:

  24. Elegant_Figure_3520

Oh, look at this totally delicious looking, perfectly baked thing that I totally ruiuiiined! 😘

  25. No_Salad_8766

My favorite cookies have almond extract in it and I’ve always wanted to find other recipes that use it because that stuff is like crack to me. LOVE the smell!

  26. gamingwonton

Almond extract is crack to me. These look absolutely delightful!! I literally can’t help but take a deep inhale of almond extract when I use it. It smells so good to me! I always use extra when my recipe calls for it, or I often sub some vanilla for almond extract because I prefer the flavor profile.

  27. lifeuncommon

Don’t be done with a flavor YOU love.

It’s nice of you to consider his tastes. But don’t be “done” with something forever because your boyfriend doesn’t prefer it.

  28. PyraAlchemist

They look amazing! A shame they didn’t turn out tho

  29. I love almond extract in a specific sugar cookie from my childhood, but in general, I’m with your boyfriend. It overtakes the flavor and I omit it every time now.

  30. potterpancakes

these looks amazing. i could easily eat all of them

  31. StormThestral

1/2 a tsp of almond extract is a lot! I use almond extract to taste and I almost always use less than what a recipe calls for. Brands can vary a lot in strength too, I bought some from a European brand once that was so strong I only needed a few drops to flavour a whole cake. It came in little vials instead of a bottle but it still lasted forever.

  32. Lazy_Tell_2288

It always fricken does! I have several bakeries I avoid bc they put it in everything. EV-ER-Y DAMNED THING.

  33. False-Can-6608

Same here, I quit using almond extract. It takes over anything it’s in. I use vanilla instead.

  34. stayawayfrommeinfj

I’ve been craving something almond flavored lately! They look delicious

  35. copybottlerocket

i have never used almond extract and been happy about it.

  36. RedplazmaOfficial

They look fantastic but i agree with BF the almond flavor overpowers the pastry quite often. I always liked these better if they were more Danish/toaster struddle themed (pastry, frosting, fruit, gooy)

  37. Margaretmeowmeowmeow

Almond extract makes me feel big feelings. I hate how much it’s used in the US for things it doesn’t even belong in
