Jesus Mary and Joseph, that looks amazing.

Man that looks wonderful, but as a Texan, that is a criminally small amount of potatoes? 🙂

My brother does a big dinner here for his birthday each year. Atmosphere and experience is awesome. Prime rib from her (55-75$)is great but I can get a cut just as good for 26 every Wednesday from my local spot.

I used to live next to there. Was a regular. It’s the best!!

Oh. I thought it was spiced with good King Henry, the plant, but it’s just a certain cut huh?

After you kill your plate, you can ask for a “second taste” and they’ll make you a complimentary plate which includes another slice of prime rib and sides.

How far ahead did you have to make your reservation? 🥲

A buddy of mine was literally given one by his friend because the friend couldn’t make it by the time the reservation came around

  9. The House of Prime rib is so brutally old fashioned in some ways, but it’s a great value and they have always had excellent service. Love that place.

I ate at this place call the Turtle Club in Fairbanks, AK. That was a great prime rib experience

The picture is misleading I believe. Is this truly a King’s cut?

  12. HOPR is an SF institution. long may it live. spin the salad and drink the leftover cocktail in the shaker

Another great thing about the House of Prime Rib is their Manhattan. They pour it for you and leave the shaker with another refill ready to go. It’s like getting the extra milkshake tin at a diner but it’s alcohol.

  14. HOP ,Tommy’s Joynt & Original Joe’s 😋…..I miss home

  15. It looks delicious but as an English person I am so very confused 😂

funfact, for a group of 4 or less, you can walkin at 5pm, and the wait is around 90 minutes.

Wow, I remember going to this place once when I was little. I’m glad to know it’s still open–and honestly, it looks very similar to what I remember from 30+ years ago.

My wealthy aunt would take us here (or place hotel for breakfast or Ruth’s Chris or whatever) Everytime we came to visit. She would stuff a hundo in the hostess hand and we wouldn’t wait. She would then proceed to order multiple salads, spinaches, etc like they were individual portions for the four of us. Incredibly wasteful with food and money. She would then get all fucking sneaky and start stuffing bread rolls in her purse and bra like she was stealing it. The waiter would offer to pack up those rolls and she would get all incensed. It was weird. She ended up immolating herself with a cigarette in bed.

I used to eat here every time I went to SF on business, and as a Brit I welcomed any American place I could get a Yorkshire pudding. Top tier meal!

I used to love going there when I visited my company’s HQ in the Bay Area, but the ambiance there has really declined. It seems like they are just squeezing every table possible in there. It is quickly becoming a tourist trap. Reservations are almost always tourists. It has lost its “local date night” vibe. The good news is that the food is pretty consistent, but the prices have gone up, and the service has declined.

I’ve wanted to go here my whole life!!!!!!
    Ty for sharing op
We were poor as a kid so never had the opportunity

But I will make it one day.

Prime rib is very easy to fix yourself and fairly cheap around Thanksgiving and Christmas
