BURTON, MI – An inflatable sushi chef and a couple Pink Panther figures greet customers outside Royal Sushi’s entrance, adding a playful and welcoming vibe to the new restaurant at Courtland Center.
Inside, guests are greeted by a pleasant, perfume-like aroma that sets a fresh and inviting atmosphere.
Royal Sushi, located at 4190 E Court St. #801 in Burton, occupies the former Old Country Buffet space at the mall and offers a unique all-you-can-eat experience.
Unlike traditional buffets, guests order from a large menu featuring sushi, specialty rolls, tempura, dumplings, and other Japanese dishes, all freshly prepared and brought directly to their tables.
Ron Li, the restaurant’s manager, described the concept as “a new concept with a sushi all-you-can-eat.”
“Normally an all-you-can-eat buffet is you just get up to the buffet bar and pick whatever you like,” he said. “We order everything off the menu. We give you a big menu with a lot of options and order whatever you want.”
With seating for 250 customers, Royal Sushi caters to families and groups looking for a casual yet expansive dining option.
Li brings years of experience running sushi restaurants in Indiana and Texas and was brought to Michigan by his business partners to launch this concept.
Popular menu items include the Hawaii Roll and the Bubba Gump Roll, among many other choices.
Royal Sushi’s arrival at Courtland Center marks a transformation of the former Old Country Buffet location into a modern, vibrant sushi destination for the Burton community.
“People are nice. Most of the people that can see the value of the menu are nice people,” Li said.
The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
