While experimenting with ways to make sardines more enjoyable during a sardine fast, I created this recipe. These air-fried canned sardines are incredibly easy to prepare and even easier to enjoy!
Today’s recipe is air fried canned sardines:
2 cans wild planet sardines
1 large egg
1/2 cup finely grated pecorino Romano or Parmesan Reggiano cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp white pepper
1. Crack an egg on a small side dish and mix the yolk in the white together.
2. Place the grated cheese and spices onto another side plate and thoroughly mix
3. Open two cans of sardines and remove the sardines from the can, being delicate, so that the fish don’t break apart
4. Dip each fish in the egg mix and then roll it in the cheese and spice mixture until thoroughly covered and set on a dry plate
5. Once all the fish are covered in the egg cheese mixture, placed the fish into your air fryer and set air fry mode at 400°F for 10 minutes
6. Flip the sardines at least one time so that all sides become crispy
7. Removed from the air fryer and place into a bowl or on a plate and allowed to cool for a few minutes.
8. These crispy sardines can be served with a side of Dijon mustard or spicy horseradish Dijon mustard or whatever dipping sauce you prefer.

OMG! SARDINES! MY WORST NIGHTMARE!!!
I might be brave enough to try them this way. Great idea!
👍🏿
I love sardines❤❤❤❤❤
Those look flipping delicious! 🤩
They look amazing! I think I can eat a lot more sardines if I do this recipe. I can’t wait! And it’s easy! Thank you, Jenny!
Aren't there bones in them?
Why would you want to do that? Just eat the sardines. The easier, the better
😮oh my god , I’m making this tomorrow
Thanks for this recipe. I've got a batch in my air fryer right now. I gotta say, the aroma of sardines and romano is not very pleasant in this little hotel room. Good thing I'm alone!
Yummy!
This is actually really good😂
Brilliant! Gotta try.
no. almost followed but this is crossing the line
What is sardine fasting? If you're eating, how is that fasting? Your basically on a sardine diet.
if you are eating solids….you are not fasting.
I think it is great to have a different taste texture once in a while. That would be good on cauliflower or other veggies in the air fryer. I use my air fryer several times per week and love it.
Oh boy, I eat them, but wish I liked them.
I just tried this, but I think I need to find a better sardine, The ones I got are super small and they're practically falling apart when you pick them up 🙁 can you recommend a good brand?
Toxic air fryer
Wow galing they now hooked to a Filipino fish “sardines hehehe🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
The point of the sardine fast is you’re only eating sardines. Now you’re adding cheese to it. And people are gonna be wondering why they’re not losing weight.🙄
can you do it without the coating?
That looks absolutely delicious. Have you ever tried Braswell's jalapeño jelly? I highly recommend.
Jalapeno and sardines 10/10
I cannot eat them plain from the can so I found a carnivore recipe I think it was Indigo Nill (who no longer does keto💔) but her recipe saved me
Less than 1/2 tsp of egg white protein power ( I triple recipe for whole can of sardine). Some pork panko, pinch or more of gelatin, garlic, onion power, little salt, smoked paprika, black pepper (I eyeball these seasonings) then I careful because they are delicate little buggers, dredge each individual piece of of sardine in the dry mix and pan fry with a small amout of olive oil. absolutly delicious😋
