Bought this Classic Series II off FB marketplace ($350) knowing it may need some work, and it has this chip at the rear of the rim. I'm curious if anyone in this community has advice for repairing this, if that's needed at all. TYIA!

Message the person you bought it from and ask them if they would be willing to submit a warranty claim for you (assuming they are the original owner)

If you bought it used knowing it was there, I’d just use it and pretend it’s not there. Flip the gasket back over it, and cook away. As long as the whole rim isn’t that way, I say send it.

You should be able to better align the lid with the bolts on the hinge. I think an Allen key is needed but it’s been a while. I’d put a new gasket on as well. There is a video from smoking dad bbq that will show all of this

The zip ties missing from the hinge spring makes me think they cut them off, then released the bands without compressing the spring first, damaging the base.

    Speaking from experience.
