I’m curious if your cafés choose not to list the price of drinks. I honestly don’t see this anywhere else.
We are constantly being asked the prices of drinks because management doesn’t want to put the prices on the menu.
Tea is $7 for 12oz and a black Cold Brew is almost $9 after tax. I feel like my company is trying to trick people and it feels icky. But lmk how y’all do it lol

$7 for tea is wild
$7 for a bagged tea is crazy.
tea being more expensive than coffee seems backwards to me. all previous cafes i worked at had the pricing the other way
I wonder if thats even legal. How can you offer something without telling the price.
I think, depending on where you’re at; prices must be listed.
$7 for tea is crazy we charge $2.50 for tea bags at my cafe
It’s literally just a bag of tea in hot water 😭
At my cafe we charge like $4.50 for tea and $5 for green tea. It’s insane and I feel so bad charging people for it.
To be fair if the tea is good enough quality to even list whether it’s first or second flush Darjeeling I’d expect it to cost a little more but $7 on an unpriced menu would still piss me off
I feel bad charging folks $3 for a tea bag at my shop, this is nuts
Y’all are concentrating on the tea prices, but $9 for cold brew?
Edit: Nothing on my entire menu is more than $6.50.
No pricing is odd but not suspicious *if your pricing is average* ; It’s completely fair to assume a drink with no modifications will be around $5 +/- $1.
I would be pretty peeved if I ordered a tea and wound up owing $7+. In this case the cafe should absolutely be up front about their prices. Yikes. I wouldn’t be buying here unless they were offering some really really niche coffees and I felt like splurging.
Edit: the tea prices are super high from a coffee-first perspective but I’ve been to places that prioritize extremely high quality tea service and they charge accordingly. Serious tea drinkers are a different breed.
Certainly this is not usd? If this is usd this is mental. Insanely messed up price scale.
I can see why they don’t put the prices up, jesus
What the fuck. An espresso for $5?
Are those prices normal in the US? Here in Germany I pay around 3,5-4€ for a cappuccino.
If I have to ask what your prices are and you answer with those, I’m leaving.
$7 tea is insane, and so is charging more than $7.50 for a fancy coffee drink, I’m honestly curious which drink was $9.00?
i work at a tourist coffee shop in a big city and tea bags aren’t even 5 dollars… 7 is wild
I haven’t seen pricing that high even in really nice coffee shops in San Francisco. I could see it being justified if it was a no tip spot paying barista 25+ an hour with full benefits, but otherwise….
My shop charges $3 for a tea plus $1.50 if you want an extra tea bag and that feels like a little too much to me
Our loose leaf is on the high end at $4.75. $7 is crazy. Where are you located?
$7 for tea unless it’s artisanal and fresh loose leaf is insane.
That’s insane, if your shit is worth that they should be proud of it, this comes off super lame
That’s illegal in my country
$7 for tea and $5 for a shot of espresso is outrageous
Large Cappuccino 🚩🚩🚩
Is that a diamond infused tea? $7 is absurd
Where is this? In NYC, this would fly in like 2 neighborhoods in Manhattan and maybe one or two shops in Williamsburg; and on the west coast, maybe in SF. A cup of tea for $7 and cold brew for $9?? GTFO…
This is whack.
Also real tea people would just make their own loose leaf at home. Who would pay 7$ for a bag of tea? Do you even sell any?
I live in a medium cost of living city and can get a large tea for $3-4 and a large latte for $6-7. Is this USD and if so, is it in a very high cost of living city?
Extremely high prices combined with no transparency makes this feel scammy to me. It’s not your doing, but I’d have a very sour taste in my mouth
$7 for tea?! … 🤬 that place 🤣🤣
I’m not a barista but I would not pay for a drink over 6 dollars unless it was like 24oz or above
I know the cold brew is atleast semi normal as my coffee shop prices ours really high too. But we sell a 20oz tea for like $4 so that’s not good.
Most definitely shady. The idea is that once it’s made and you’re told the price at checkout, you’re less likely to back out of the purchase when you wouldn’t have even purchased it had you known the price initially. I avoid places that intentionally hide prices for this reason
$7 for tea is crazy
Yeah, this is shady (maybe).
It is a selling technique to increase sales. Studies have shown that if people can’t see the prices, they are likely to order more. Basically, if you don’t see the price, your brain doesn’t recognize the cost adding up. It is the same reason that we usually see 3 sizes of stuff. The goal isn’t to sell more of the large size, but to increase the sales of a medium size. People want more product, but don’t want to pay for the largest size. Thus they “settle” for the medium size. You achieve your sales goals and customers feel better about their purchase.
Or, they are idiots and just trying to be edgy and cool. At the end of the day, I would imagine that your business is made up of first or second time buyers only. I would be surprised if they have a strong loyal base.
In my country, all prices must be displayed. I can guarantee if the price isn’t listed, its not that good.
To actually answer ur question, no this isn’t normal. As someone who works in a cafe, and also visits other cafes, I’d be turned off by unlisted prices. Especially if they turn out to be overpriced. Every coffee shop I’ve been in has prices listed.
$7 for hot water with a bag of leaves in it is diabolical. Edit $9 for cold brew would make me slam my head into the counter
I think your instincts are correct. Not listing prices is very strange
$7 for tea ?? That’s looting because all they give you is hot water and a tea bag.
If someone charges me $7 for tea it better come with a lobster dinner and blow job
those prices are not normal and your management obfuscating the cost on purpose is really scummy.
