Gol Khanom are Afghan swirl dumplings with a delicious spiced filling, steamed until super soft and juicy. They’re topped with two irresistible sauces: a fresh, cooling yogurt sauce and a rich, flavorful chickpea-based sauce layered over the top. A true comfort food , better than any other dumpling and unforgettable at first bite!
– 500g minced meat
– 700g cabbage
– 4 medium onions
– 2 small carrots
– 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
– 1 and ½ teaspoons salt
– 1 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
– 1 teaspoon homemade spiced red chili
– 1 teaspoon red chili powder
– 1 teaspoon bell pepper powder
– Fresh cilantro (as needed)
🟠 Dough:
– 1 egg
– 3 and ½ cups plain flour
– 1 and ½ teaspoons salt
– 200ml water + 4 tablespoons
🟡 Chickpea Sauce:
– 100ml oil
– ½ cup cooked split chickpeas
– 2 cloves garlic
– 350g tomato sauce or paste
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ teaspoon paprika powder
– ½ teaspoon turmeric
– ½ teaspoon coriander seeds
– ½ teaspoon red chili masala
🔵 Yogurt Sauce:
– 500g plain yogurt
– 2 cloves garlic (minced)
– Salt to taste
