Celebrity chef to headline 20th Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival

Chef Marcus Samuelsson will headline the 20th annual Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival, scheduled for Sept. 18-21 at Rosecliff and Marble House.

Tickets for all festival events go on sale to the public today at 9 a.m. at www.newportmansions.org/events/newport-mansions-wine-food-festival-2025.

The festival will feature 23 tasting seminars, the Vintner Dinner, Sunday Jazz Brunch, “Conversation with Marcus Samuelsson” and a new event called Soiree du Vin.

Born in Ethiopia and raised in Sweden, Samuelsson operates restaurants in New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, the Bahamas, Canada and Ethiopia. He has won eight James Beard Foundation Awards and appears on TV shows including the Food Network’s “Chopped,” Peacock’s “Top Chef: Family Style” and Netflix’s “Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend.”

“Chef Samuelsson is the kind of international culinary star who will spice up the Wine & Food Festival and make it an unforgettable experience,” said Trudy Coxe, CEO and executive director of The Preservation Society of Newport County, which organizes the annual event.

Samuelsson will host the annual Vintner Dinner on Sept. 19, creating a signature first course followed by courses from chefs Kevin Des Chenes, Terence Feury and Adam Young. On Sept. 20 at Rosecliff, he will appear at “In Conversation with Chef Marcus Samuelsson,” sharing stories from his culinary journey and approach to flavor and culture.

The three-day event will explore wines from around the world as well as spirits and craft beer. Festival tickets include access to the Tasting Tent, where wineries, distributors, beverage vendors and local restaurants will offer samples.

Proceeds benefit The Preservation Society of Newport County, a nonprofit organization that preserves and interprets the area’s historic architecture, landscapes and decorative arts.
