Today I made my first ever completely self sufficient dinner.
Fish (cod) that I caught and cleaned… freshly picked sugar snap peas and carrots from my garden… and the first potatoes of the year, that I dug up yesterday evening.
It’s so unreal to think I produced just about everything on the plate 😭 the fish is even battered with eggs from my chickens.
It tasted amazing, which might go without saying! 😁😆

It hits completely different, eating what you earned with your own hands. It’s spiritually satisfying.
Those carrots are adorable. Congrats!
Brought tears my eyes. I don’t know you, but I’m so proud of you!
Nice photo too, lovely lighting!
That is amazing! I don’t think I have ever had a whole meal from just things I grew or caught. I might have to try that. Enjoy!
Nice beans! Or small plate/fork…? 😉
I just commented this to my spouse a few days ago. I love preparing and eating food that I have grown. It’s so satisfying!
Well done!
This is the dream!! Great job!!!
Do you have seasoning? Lol, nice work though!
It looks amazing
Looks fancy like some expensive dish at a fine restaurant. Very nice!
10/10 would eat! That looks amazing!!
Idk of a better feeling than feeding yourself or loved ones with food that you grew. Great job!!!
Looks delicious!
It’s the best feeling and for me, really what gardening is about. I do it for the food
It’s beautiful 🤩
Shows that you get much, much more from gardening than you put in. Beautiful and delicious!
gah, i wish i could eat bland stuff. looks healthy but I cant say it looks appetizing
Looks amazing!!!!! I’d be so damn proud!
Wow!! How awesome!! I just told my boyfriend I wanna do a fishing trip, no catch and release shit. I wanna clean and eat my fish!!
It’s such a cool feeling to have a meal based off your harvest. I made a meal where everything but the meat was from my garden and it was awesome. I’d hope to do aquaponics one day and farming some fish to go along with it.
On the flipside, sometimes for a split second, I get grossed out in a weird way. I’m aware of all the bugs, worms, and dirt that I’ve seen and handled. Even though grocery store produce is handled so poorly, there was something about thinking about all the bugs I’ve dealt with that grossed me out, but then I quickly get over it and keep chewing.
Very impressive. If more people could eat real food like this it would be a much better place.
That is an absolute wonderful feeling.
Something I like to challenge myself to do is to eat something I produce every day.
It might be eggs from my chickens, tomato and basil on my eggs, berries in a smoothie, greens and radish for a salad, zucchini or something else for dinner.
By doing this it forces me to one, plant intentionally and two, eat the things I do produce. It’s made a big difference.
