As a vegan, I’m researching nutrients like iodine and Vitamin A since they’re crucial for thyroid health, similar to B12 concerns. I found a study (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18214025/) showing that low Vitamin A can worsen thyroid issues from iodine deficiency, like reduced hormone levels or thyroid enlargement. When both nutrients are sufficient, thyroid function may improve. Has anyone on a plant-based diet prioritized these through foods (e.g., carrots, sweet potatoes for Vitamin A; seaweed, iodized salt for iodine)? What tips or studies have you come across? (Note: I’m not suggesting treatments or supplements, just exploring dietary science for my own learning)

I think it’s pretty impossible to be deficient vitamin A when following a balanced plant based diet. Iodine might be a concern for those who do a salt free diet or use sea salts, but even greens can contain a decent amount of iodine depending on where they’re grown.
Selenium is another important nutrient for thyroid function
