Ingredients:
WATER _ _ _ _9 CUPS (1800 mL)
MEDIUM CARROTS_ _ _2
MEDIUM POTATOES_ _ 3
MEDIUM ONION _ _ _ _ 1
RED LENTILS _ _ _ _ _ _ 1 CUP (200 gram)
OLIVE OIL_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3-4 Tbsp

Herbs and spices:
1 tsp SALT for water
1/2 tsp SALT for sauté
1 pinch BLACK PEPPER
1 pinch CAYENNE PEPPER
1 tsp PAPRIKA
1/2 tsp TURMERIC (optional)
1/4 cup (25 gram) CHOPPED PARSLEY

Let’s make a delicious red lentil soup in just 30 minutes. [Music] We will need two medium-sized carrots, three medium-sized potatoes, one medium-sized yellow onion, one full cup of red lentils, and 3 to four tablespoons of olive oil. We will also need some herbs and spices. One teaspoon of salt for water. Half a teaspoon of salt for sautayang. A pinch of black pepper to taste. A pinch of cayenne pepper to taste. 1 teaspoon of paprika. Half a teaspoon of turmeric which is optional. And 1/4 cup of chopped parsley. And of course, nine cups of water. To protect your fingers when dicing onions. Curl them up like this. To keep the onion from falling apart, stop cutting at about half an inch in like this. Chop the onion into 1/2 in cubes. Shred the carrots to fine or to medium shred size. Cut the potatoes into 2in cubes. Add them to the cooking pot with cold water. Turn your stove on high heat. Add a teaspoon of salt. Bring water to boil. While the potatoes are cooking, add 3 to four tablespoons of olive oil to the skillet and preheat it on medium heat. Add carrots and onions to the skillet and sauté them for about 3 minutes until the onions get translucent and the carrots just soften up. Add all the spices and half a teaspoon of salt. Keep sautaying for 3 to four minutes longer until the mixture is evenly browned. The potatoes have now boiled for about 5 to 6 minutes. Time to add the sauteed vegetables to the pot. Bring the heat down to medium. Rinse a full cup of red lentils with cold water. and add them to the cooking pot. Keep cooking on medium heat for approximately 15 to 18 minutes. And now it’s ready to be served. Garnish your soup with chopped parsley. Add oyster crackers or eat it with your favorite bread. Enjoy and come back for more easy and delicious recipes.
