As a huge ribs fan, I am obligated to say, Smoque is a brisket spot that happens to do ribs. They season and cook their ribs like their brisket, and it’s just okay. For that area (NW Chicago) I highly prefer Offset BBQ in Humboldt, and Lem’s on the South Side overall.

This might be a hot take, but I don’t like their peach cobbler. 😬 I’ve gotten it twice and both times the peaches were just really grainy & mushy. It lacked much flavor overall to me. Their bread pudding though…. 10/10. Still looks like a great plate though!

Smoque is great. That said, I can’t find any decent bbq in the city that isn’t a fortune. I feel like the odds of me leaving a bbq joint full without spending $40 on just myself are tiny.
