Got this for $40, first time owning a Weber kettle was it a good deal? Any tips for cleaning it up?

Hell yeah. That thing is ready to cook as is.

Get a chimney for starting charcoal.

YouTube or research some info on 2 zone cooking. But I also like direct grilling for some things. Just spread the coals out evenly and start grilling. Takes a little more attention and babysitting.

$40 is a nice price for that.

Replace the cooking grate with a stainless steel one (make sure it’s hinged on as least one side), that one is pretty much done, other than that, send it.

I love a webber did my first brisket on a webber with the snake charcoal method. I also like to wrap a potato in tin foil n throw it by the coals to make a bake potato saves room on the top for other stuff.

    40? Not bad.
Maybe a new primary grill. Get a good quality one, hopefully SS.
My Smoky Joe is 23 years old and the only thing to wear out so far is the bolt that keeps the lower vent attached.
