I have been here for almost a year and nobody on night shift has ever touched her stuff. She keeps putting these signs up for some reason idk

To just start leaving cornstarch fingerprints on the outside of the pans would be my next move.
yeroldfatdad
Probably had a previous bad experience. Tape a picture of a lock to it so they know it’s secure.
JaceBearelen
Obviously the sign works. Idk what you’re confused about.
Fox_Populi
She started putting up the sign a year ago, coincidentally nobody touched her stuff for a year now 😛
TenYearHangover
Guess the signs worked
ChefAsstastic
I had a 65 year old breakfast cook who worked at the hotel where I was a sous chef for 45 years. He used to lock up his omelette Skillets with a chain and padlock in the reach in and would cuss anybody out who went near them.
JoozleJazz
Nah, I get it

They’ve worked with enough dipshits that have gotten into their stuff. Seems to be working. Probably much more trivial stuff for you to focus on.

I had pantry cooks steal my sliced chorizo for weeks. We went through a lot on both sides and Id slice a full 1/6 pan every day for my station and come into an empty one every day. It was a huge pain in the ass because the ones we were using had the casing on the outside and would stick and only come off in small pieces at a time then we had to slice it paper thin.
I would ask them when they were slicing theirs because I’ve never seen them prep it and they would just shrug their shoulders. Finally one day I had enough and got petty, cam in early and took half the shit from their cart to use on my side and distributed the stuff I couldn’t use to the employee cafeteria.
When they got there they were freaking out because our chef was a fucking tyrant and if you were missing anything from service he would yell at you and belittle you for an entire shift at least.
They stopped touching my stuff.
Bitter_Frame3054
It’s probably happened before to her. But if you’ve worked all day to get your work done & God forbid you have time to get some actual prep done for the next day too…I probably would do the same thing.
Simple_Medium_1865
She basically says FAFO
The_Droker
a year is nothing.

Someone did though, once and she isn’t going to let any of you forget it

Something tells me someone really fucked up in the past.

She’s traumatized from last experience and just assumes it will happen again unless she takes protective measures.
I bet it’s the first thing she goes and looks at before even clocking in.
squeakynickles
No harm in putting the note. Probably a learned lesson from a different kitchen
bnbtwjdfootsyk
Reminds me of the time that a baker posted on here that their cake had been eaten by the sous chef and other kitchen staff, and had to remake it to serve in like 2 hours. Bet they wish they would’ve left a sign.
dramamineking
So… Don’t touch it
euniceaf
Meh I’ve been in enough places to have trust issues. I hotel wrap everything including my bain of tools. I just started to trust leaving my tools near my station. Before it would come to the locker with me every night.
under_gong
People like to touch. Fuackin do-not!!!
Mariuxpunk007
As soon as she takes the sign down, people will start using her stuff. Better safe than sorry.
LionBig1760
If its working, why stop?
Ineedasnackandanap
I’ve had to be mildly cunty to keep my bake shop in order. The line cooks would come over and pillage anything not locked up. Servers would leave their half eaten food and piles of napkins all over my counters. I have a lock box and a camera now. Im too tired to be hunting down my shit
SpiritedLab4811
The signs are working.
MadGeller
So the signs are working then
Artistic_Nail_6960
Probably had someone eat their food. My friend worked 3rd shift and had a ribeye in the fridge and somebody made it disappear. Id just put a note on food or write which shift/department for. I know it seems wrong but without label most ppl get into it especially if left out on table.
Orchid_Significant
As soon as she stops, the idiots will think it’s free game again
mista_mutton
Fuck it. Pull an uno reverse and prep more.
Omelooo
All it takes is one day without a sign

Honestly, I understand her. I’ve been there
