MEMPHIS (WKRC) — A Wingstop worker was arrested days after she allegedly threw “hot cooking oil” on two customers, leaving them with serious burns.
According to a complaint affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, two customers entered a Wingstop location in Memphis on July 22 to pick up an order.
The pair reportedly got into an argument with one of the workers, 25-year-old Johnisa Herring, over an unknown topic.
While the two women were “continuing to argue with Herring, Herring went to the kitchen, grabbed a bowl and filled it with hot cooking oil,” per the affidavit. Herring allegedly walked back out of the kitchen and “threw the bowl of hot oil” onto the customers.
The oil reportedly hit both customers, leaving second-degree burns on one woman’s face and chest, “18.5% of her body,” and giving the other burns on her right shoulder.
Herring was arrested on Monday after the woman with second-degree burns identified her as the attacker. She was charged with aggravated assault.
