Helmed by Priyank Sukhija and founder Lorenzo Lanzoni with support of Nitin Shekhawat and Harsh Rathore, Mi Piaci an Italian ode has been brought to life in the heart of Delhi. The newest launch by the team opened in Ambawatta One, in Mehrauli, with a view of the Qutub Minar—telling a story of elegance, history, and atmosphere all on its own.
The entire ops team is Italian. Corporate Chef Mattia Volpari has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants across Italy. Silvia Aserio, the manager, comes from top restaurants in Milan. The pizza chef, Alessandro Citera has travelled across Europe, bringing with him technique and passion.
The journey of Mi Piaci began in Italy where Lorernzo Lanzoni met his friend Harsh Rathore at University in Bologna. Rathore, born in India, but raised in Italy got Lanzoni to India.
“It all started with a trip. Harsh, born in India but raised in Italy since he was a child, hadn’t been back in years. He invited me to come with him to visit his family. Very quickly, I fell in love with this incredible country. There was something about the energy, the culture, the people—it just felt right. With three restaurants already running successfully in Italy, the idea came naturally: why not try building something here too? India is unique land of diversity, I got simply attracted to colours, variety and versatility of India and we got Mi Piaci to India in our minds that very moment, We partnered with Nitin, Harsh’s — and opened a small pizzeria in a shared location between Gurugram and Faridabad. From day one, our goal was to bring real Italian cuisine to India,The response was incredible. People loved the food, both in person and online. But the space didn’t feel like home. It was too far from the center, and we couldn’t fully express ourselves the way we wanted”, said Lanzoni.
Priyank Sukhija added, “Italian cuisine is one which you can enjoy at every moment of the day. It is like the first preference of every Indian when you travel outside or when you want to explore the new cuisine—It is always Italian. An opportunity came up to bring Italian culinary journey on gourmet forefront and It’s very exciting. A foodie in me is very sure that our customers will accept Mi Piaci with all their heart and stomach”.
“With an authentic menu of Italian flavours crafted by seasoned expat chefs, a cocktail menu that transports you to Italy, Mi Piaci is a place which offers you the reason to plan several visits for the finest Italian experience,” Sukhija concluded.
