Sliced can only occur during the Jandel the Chef weather event in Grow a Garden.

During this event, Jandel will appear for a short duration, split the level in two with a katana strike, and potentially grant you the Sliced mutation.

So let’s take a look at the Sliced mutation and Jandel the Chef weather in Grow a Garden.

How to get Sliced mutation in Grow a Garden

To get a Sliced mutation in Grow a Garden, you need to have experienced the Jandel the Chef weather event in game. Afterwards (or during if you’re lucky), investigate your plants and see if any of your fruit has changed in its appearance, with various parts of the fruit cut away or hanging in the air next to it. This is a Sliced mutation!

Alongside its changed appearance, you’ll also notice the ‘Sliced’ mutation will be listed alongside any other mutation it may have too. | Image credit: Eurogamer / The Garden Game

As with all mutations in the game, you can check how much a Sliced mutation will increase your fruit by at the shop. The Sliced mutation gives you a x50 multiplier, which is a fairly sizeable boost to the value of each of your crops should they receive this mutation.

Grow a Garden Jandel the Chef

Jandel the Chef is a weather event in Grow a Garden where Jandel will appear with a katana and cut the entire level into two halves, leaving you stranded and ostensibly walking through the air.

At the time of writing, the only Jandel the Chef event to take place was an admin spawned weather event. This means it only occurred because the game’s developers expressly made it happen. We don’t know if it will always be an admin spawned event, however, so keep an eye on those skies!

Still, your best chance to experience the Jandel the Chef event is to jump into Grow a Garden an hour before it updates as the admins always like to run special weather events in the build up. For UK players, this would be 2pm (BST) with the update arriving at 3pm (BST).

Hope you have a Sliced mutation! Take a look at our best mutations page.
