The popular Roblox game Grow a Garden has introduced a major update on August 2, 2025, featuring a full cooking system, new rewards, and a trading feature. The update adds more depth to the farming simulator by allowing players to create food items and trade with others, while also earning exclusive items from an NPC named Chris P.
Cooking system adds new food items
Players can now cook dishes using ingredients from their farms. To cook, users must go to the cooking area in the game’s lobby, submit specific fruits or vegetables, and wait for the food item to be prepared. Each recipe has a cooking time and rarity level, with higher-tier ingredients producing better rewards.
Some of the recipes include:
Soup: any mix of ingredientsSandwich: 2 tomatoes and 1 cornBurger: tomato, corn, and bone blossomPizza, waffle, cake, and other items also have multiple combinations
Rarer versions of food, such as Prismatic or Divine variants, give players a higher chance at earning better rewards.
Pig NPC judges your dishes
After cooking, players can offer their food items to a pig NPC named Chris P, who shows a new food craving every hour. Matching the craving increases the chances of receiving better rewards. Players can interact with him by holding their food item and selecting “Try this food I cooked up!”
List of rewards includes rare seeds and pets
Chris P can give out several types of rewards depending on the dish submitted. These include:
Common items: Sheckles, watering cans, basic toolsRare items: Gourmet seed packs, artichoke, advanced sprinklersLegendary to Prismatic items: Gourmet eggs, toys, mutation sprays, Pancake Stack, Taco Fern
Trading system introduced
Alongside the cooking update, the developers also launched a trading system. Players can now trade seeds, pets, and items using trading tickets. These tickets are available in-game and limit the number of trades a player can make per day.
Game sees massive player growth
Since its launch in March 2025, Grow a Garden has grown rapidly, reaching over 21 million concurrent players and briefly surpassing Fortnite in player count. The new cooking and trading update has helped maintain its popularity by giving players more goals and activities.
Developers have also promised better event quality moving forward, with two dedicated teams now managing future updates.
The cooking system, combined with trading and rare cosmetic rewards, has added a new layer of strategy and excitement to the Roblox hit game. Fans can expect more themed events in the coming weeks.
