Hey guys, Joel and Christy here. And what are
we doing today? We’re sharing all of our fill-in hauls for the month of July. All right, let’s
do it. This is our second week grocery haul. If you’d like to see the first week’s grocery
haul where we bought our big groceries, then be sure to go back to the beginning of
the month. There will be I’ll put it in the um eye in the sky. I’ll also put the link down in
the description and at the end of the video in the end screen so that you can see what we bought
for the whole month. the we still haven’t cut our watermelon yet. Um anyway, uh so we got this
all from Walmart because we just needed to get in and get out. And unfortunately, our Aldi doesn’t
open till 9:00. Joel had a meeting this morning, so we didn’t have a lot of time for shopping, so
we had to go to a place that was open already. So, uh that was Walmart. So, I’ve got some granola
to put with my yogurt. Um, still a little sick that uh like I was in the first week grocery haul.
So, I’m just looking for easy. Um, so like I said, I got some granola to have with my yogurt. I do
have some frozen berries I’ll probably throw out and put with that. Um, but anyway, that um we
were going to have pizzas and normally I keep bay leaves in our flour container. Um, well, we
don’t have a container. I just ordered one from Amazon. Should be coming today. Maybe I’ll show
you our new containers, but um, we didn’t have any. We’ve just been keeping it in the bag, but
putting a bay leaf in it. Bay leaf in it. But I guess whoever opened that flower didn’t put the
bay leaf in it because we had bugs. So, I had to throw out a whole bag of flour. Uh, so I bought a
new one so that we could have pizzas. No worries. Even though we couldn’t um make our pizzas, we
had crescent rolls and we made pizza roll-ups. So, we didn’t we didn’t um decide we had to order out
or anything. We just we just switched to crescent rolls for the pizza. Um anyway, Joel is eating
pickles lately, so he got a new jar of pickles. We have a couple of vegetables coming up. We needed
a zucchini for one. We needed red bell pepper, cilantro. Uh, if you want a little tip, take this
cilantro, put it in a mason jar, run water over it, then put like a ziploc bag over it, and it
makes it almost like a little greenhouse. And, um, I do put it in the refrigerator. Um, limes. Also,
another tip here for you. Just put the limes in a glass jar with some water like a mason jar. And uh
they will stay fresh and not um spoil until you’re ready to use them. All right. And then we got some
red baby red potatoes. Um uh we have a recipe that we’re going to put on the grill and we needed red
potatoes to put in that. And then I got my little chocolate bar that I usually eat like a square or
two every day. All right, and that is it. I think it was 27 I $27 and something. I’ll put the total
on the screen, but that’s all for the first or the second week of July. All right, this is the next
week’s groceries. Um, we got some Kings Hawaiian rolls. We got some carrots, some red potatoes.
That’s for two meals. We’ll be splitting it in half for the two meals. I got sweet potatoes.
Um, and that’s for me. Uh Joel won’t eat sweet potatoes. Uh, neither will our son, but I use
them anytime that I kind of like stopped doing that for a little while, but picking it back up
where I’m eating sweet potatoes instead of the white potatoes. Um, when they eat anything with
potatoes in it, I’m choosing the sweet potatoes, like baking it or making sweet potato fries from
it, which I do that as well sometimes. So, uh, chocolate milk. Uh, Joel is still making his hot
chocolates, uh, frozen hot chocolates, and then, um, his Italian sweet cream. I don’t use creamer
myself, so that that is definitely just him. Um, I just use something like a little milk or or
half and half or something like that. I know I don’t I don’t use creamer at all. I stopped doing
that a long time ago. Um, got some romaine lettuce that is for my lunches, but you know, we also may
have it like on our uh sliders that we’re getting those Kings Hawaiian rolls is to make cheeseburger
sliders. Mine may have romaine lettuce on it. Uh, probably will. And uh it’s just corn if I have
some left from my lunches when we get to that recipe. Um and I got some cherry tomatoes. That’s
for my lunches. Basically, I’m making kind of like a well like what the recipe is for is like a
chicken pesto wrap. And instead of making a wrap with it, I’m using quinoa, but you put like little
tomatoes and romaine lettuce and stuff in it. So, I’m excited to eat that. Um, and a regular
tomato that is for the sliders. These potatoes, like I’ve already mentioned, this is for making
French fries for the uh cheeseburger sliders. For the side of it, I make them and bake them in
the oven. And then I got some bananas for me. Um, and I don’t normally put toiletries in here, you
know, or cleaning supplies because I just don’t feel like I necessarily have the best tips for
saving money for them most of the time. But this was a good deal, so I decided I would share it.
It’s a rebate in Ibata, and I have a sensitive skin, so I have to use something like Arman Hammer
or Drift or something like that or my skin breaks out. So, I always am on the hunt, like I watch
for those rebates, and when they land in Ibotta or one of the other apps, I go ahead and buy
whatever it is. And so, this was $3 off each bag as long as you bought the five in one, and it
was a 42 count. Um, and so they were $9.48 each and then I got $3 off each bag. I could only do
two, but I saved $6 is what I’m saying. And so, um, you know, I’m always happy when I can get a
little deal on the Arm and Hammer because it’s not the cheapest thing. It’s cheaper than
Drift, but it’s not the cheapest. So, um, I consider that a win. And, um, if you have never
used Ibotta, which most people have at this point, but if you have not used it, be sure to check
down in the description. And I will have a link to Ibotta with my referral link and you are welcome
to use that. You can just download it yourself, but if you do download it with my link, you
may get a couple of dollars immediately as soon as you upload your first receipt, something
like that. Um, and full disclosure, I would also get a referral uh amount, a dollar amount for
referring. Someone actually recently did that. I have no idea who it was, but um if you used
the referral link, I appreciate it. I hope you’re enjoying it because I do find that I get some
good deals on Ibotta and uh it comes and goes, but there are certain times when I catch a really
good one like those arm and hammer tabs. So, um anyway, that was this week’s haul and we’ll
show you next week’s next week. This is the next to the last grocery haul for July. I think I think
there must have been five Saturdays or there may have not been five Saturdays, but we shopped the
Saturday before the month started and then there were four more. So, I guess anyway, we have I
think we’ll have five hauls uh in this video. I mean, you you have the first one of the month
that we already recorded, but we’ll link it in the description. And then there should be four in
this video that were small hauls, I think. Anyway, I digress. Let’s get on with the um with what
we actually bought. Joel got his chocolate milk uh for his frozen hot chocolates. um he does
make those a little healthier obviously just because he’s able to control what goes into
the drink as opposed to purchasing it from um a restaurant. But also uh is healthier because
sometimes most of the time he puts protein powder in it as well. And so he’s uh it’s another way
for him to sneak in some protein and get some uh protein uh because he runs and does strength
training. So um it’s a good way to sneak in a little protein. Uh we do have a video that’s going
to come up that’s going to show that. All right. Um I still I got more of this pistachio pesto. Uh
I have never been a huge pesto fan, but this stuff is next level. is great on pizzas. Uh um I’ve been
making chicken bowls, pesto chicken bowls with this. So good. Um obviously you could also put it
with some pasta and make something that way, but uh pistachio pizza, pesto pizza. So good. And you
just use this as the base with some mozzarella, spinach, and anything else that you want on it. Um
so good. So good. Uh we got this for some recipes. I don’t remember exactly which one, but um yeah,
got that for a recipe. Uh we were getting low on rosemary. We do use that in some recipes, so we
just got one jar. Um these are going in my chick, my pesto chicken bowls. I’ve been putting this and
romaine lettuce. So, it’s what my grape tomatoes are for. Uh, we have been making smoothies because
it’s summer and a smoothie is a good breakfast option that doesn’t heat up your house when it’s
um 100° outside, not counting humidity levels. Uh, we’re tracking in about 105 to 110 degree temps
right now as the fill light. Um, obviously not at breakfast time, but you don’t want to heat up
your house before you even get to it. So, we got the triple berry blend and we got some blueberry.
Uh, been making I made I made a blueberry muffin protein shake. And again, we will do a video with
all these shakes. Um, or all these things that we’re doing with the blender recently. And uh
that blueberry muffin protein shake is amazing. It’s actually a smoothie, not a shake. Um, anyway,
there’s whole deal pickles. Joel has been doing that. Yeah. If you remember way back, Joel would
eat Cheetos with his meal. No matter what we made, he had Cheetos on the side. Several years ago,
he cut that out. Um, and he’s still been making little swaps here and there. Well, one of his
swaps was to start eating a dill pickle on the side of me, some meals, not all, but uh that’s,
you know, it’s a low calorie option and still gives them that crunch and salty kind of thing.
so that he doesn’t have to completely never have any crunchy foods in his life or things that
you know like you crunch when you eat it. So, uh yeah, whole dill pickles has been his go-to
recently. Uh I got bananas. Yep. If y’all been around for a while, you know I do this um every
week. I’ve tried cutting them out from time to time and I just don’t know why. I just feel
better. Um, if I have a banana, not every day, but like four or five days a week, if I have a
banana, um, I just feel better healthy wise. Like I I don’t know. I’m just a person. I guess I need
that potassium in my life. I’m not sure, but I do feel better when I have it. Um, got some organic
milk. Um, like I said, this is not the cheapest thing that you can buy as far as milk goes. And
we used to do almond milk and I just decided I was going to see if I could do organic milk and
my skin not break out cuz I used to be uh have a problem with that. And I accredited a lot of it
to uh dairy and I really had to do that cuz I grew up on a dairy farm. But I really thought that um
the dairy was causing a problem that was making my skin break out. Maybe I’ve gotten older and
it doesn’t do it like it used to, but um I’m not having any problem with skin breakouts anymore.
So, um and I thought, you know, I used to just you get the regular, not organic, and I thought maybe
that’s why is because I wasn’t buying organic. I don’t know that that’s accurate statement, but um
I’m not breaking out anymore, so that’s good. Um, our son still is into the peanut butter and
jelly sandwich. So, there you go. Knocked half my stuff down. Um, yeah, white bread, just plain. He
doesn’t like wheat and he doesn’t like, you know, things with seeds and all that kind of stuff
in it. So, we get just the simple white bread. One garlic bulb. Need that for some recipes.
Uh Joel needed some grits. He does do this for breakfast on the day, you know, not not
on the days that he does the hot chocolate, frozen hot chocolate protein or does a fruit
smoothie, but some days he does want grits and eggs. It’s just dependent upon his mood and his if
his mood is that he wants like a savory breakfast, he does grits and eggs and like either bacon or
ham. Uh, Pop-Tarts. That’s our son’s. He just needed one to get through probably. Uh,
spinach. We have some recipes like pasta recipes that we’re going to put some spinach in.
That’s a way, one way that we sneak in some green vegetables is to put that in the pasta dishes.
Um, and then the Roma, like I already mentioned, those chicken bowls that I put cherry tomatoes and
romaine lettuce in, and that is what that’s for. And finally, uh, I got a chocolate bar. And,
uh, if you know you’ve been around, you know, I get one of these like every week or every two
weeks or so. And I just take a little bar bite, like one little like they have them, how do you
say it? Squares. Um, they have them broke into squares and I just eat a square or two a day.
And so since I don’t eat it every day, then I don’t have to buy it every week. But sometimes
I do. just according to how my mood goes. Um I didn’t buy one last week cuz I thought, you know
what, I got bananas and stuff, but then um later in the week, I kind of missed having a little
chocolate. Um and it’s not too too bad. It’s 70% cocoa. It tastes good. It doesn’t taste like um
it’s all bitter, but it’s still good. All right, guys. This is the last haul of the month. And as
we talked about, there’s five. Um, if my voice sounds funny in this clip, it is because uh sinus
drainage again. Um, I have a cough and also a sore throat. Um, so, uh, here we go. Let’s do this fast
cuz my voice may not hold up for all of this. Um, the total of all of this was $87.18. Uh we don’t
normally spend that much on a fill-in haul, but uh we did buy some chicken that was on clearance
there. See, it’s only $2.11 per pound. So, we went ahead and grabbed that. And uh we bought a lot
more produce. and uh than we have been buying. Um I have been trying to make sure that I’m getting
more vegetables and fruits in my diet in the form, you know, so I can make sure that I’m not just
getting plenty of protein, but I’m also getting plenty of fiber. So, um I plan to incorporate that
more in my food. And hopefully I’ll show some of that on our other channel fit for the long run
if you want to see what I’m doing with it. But um yeah, some of this produce for what was for
regular recipes, but some of it, like I said, was for me for like lunches and breakfast foods
so that I can get in more fiber. All right, we’re going to start right here. Uh we got hamburger
buns. That’s for pull pork. Um uh we have the pork thawing out right now. um that’s already been
cooked and we just have to uh do put um you know heat it up and make some home homemade barbecue
sauce which is super easy. We can link a recipe for that. Um I’ll have mine on sweet potato. I
already have some of those from our last haul, so I’m good with that. I also got a chocolate bar
because what is life without a little chocolate? If you have just one or two squares of this
per day, it’s not too many calories. As long as you’re being mindful and not going overboard,
you’re good. Okay. Um, like I said, some fruit, strawberries, and blueberries. Um, I’ve been
doing smoothies with frozen fruit, so it’s not like I haven’t been getting any fruit at all, but
I tend not to buy fresh berries because they’re on on more on the expensive side. So, I decided to
just We talked about that earlier in the year that we decided that since we never go over our $600
budget, $600 per month budget, that it would be okay if we splurged on actually having, you know,
some things that are just healthier for you. Um, and not saying, “Okay, I can only get frozen
because it’s cheaper that way.” I can have fresh fruit, too. It is in my budget. So, if it’s
in your budget, you don’t have to feel guilt about spending the money. Okay. Um, so strawberries and
blueberries, which we do get strawberries fresh a lot, but it’s usually Joel that eats them alone,
and I just eat the frozen and other things. And so, yeah, I’m going to eat fresh this time. We
don’t normally buy blueberries at all um like that. We usually just get the frozen, so that’ll
be different. Uh we have a recipe coming. Well, it’s a a a collection of recipes using the blender
and um yeah, we’re going to be using this as just like a garnish on something that we’re making.
Uh the blender recipes are mostly like smoothies and things like that, but not only. We have a
sweet treat coming up in it, too. And uh so yeah, hopefully that uh recipe video turned out great.
Um by the time you see this, I think that it will have been the uh prior week’s video. So I’ll have
it linked in the description if you want to see what we did there. Uh we have some penne pasta
with with uh sausage and veggies coming up. And um you have mushrooms in it. So good. We’ve shared
it before on the channel. We can link that down in the description as well. And in the eye in the
sky. Um we tried a new recipe the other day and it took orzo pasta. And we didn’t record it because
I sound funny. I still sound funny. But um anyway, we’re going to try it again, but we needed more
pasta for that. Um, we’ll try to record it. Of course, it’ll be a few days because I got to get
over this uh sore throat. Uh, green leaf lettuce right there. Um, obviously for more recipes that
or well lunch foods for me. That’s what it’s for. The I’ve been eating a pesto chicken uh bowl
that’s kind of like quinoa and green leaf lettuce and tomatoes and stuff like that. I got some kale.
I’m going to sauté some, put it on the side of some scrambled eggs and fruit in the mornings
for breakfasts when I don’t do smoothies. So, that’s what I got the kale for. Doritos. We’re
going to have that on the side of those pulled pork things or or uh Joel and our son will um
Italian sweet cream creamer. That’s Joel’s. That’s our son’s Pop-Tarts. Joel was getting
low on his half calf coffee. uh Greek yogurt, I eat Greek yogurt for uh breakfasts or lunches
sometimes, but we’re also going to, like I said, we’re going to be doing a recipe with blender
stuff. And so, I needed a little extra yogurt for that. Got my bananas, which I like to eat.
We got some broccoli. That’s for our recipe. Um, we needed the red bell pepper for a recipe, but
I’m going to use these and some of my breakfast foods and stuff to get more uh veggies in. Uh,
chicken. That was $2.11 per pound, which is like the best price you can find around here right
now. Like, you can’t find it on sale for that. is like Aldi right now is I think on sale and
it’s $2.29 per pound. So, uh we’ll take it. The two green bell peppers that is for recipes. The
lemons I think is for a recipe. The garlic is for recipes. Parmesan cheese. Yeah, recipes. Um
anyway, so that is all of it. All right. Well, there you have it. Those all fill in holes. Yep.
Yeah. Um, we will put the total that we spent for the month. That does include the first haul of
the month, which is our large one, and it was in a separate video, but we’ll have that linked
down in the description. But, so that was five hauls for the month because there we started on
like the 30th or something like that of June. And um so that ended up being five weekends uh if
you count that 30th or 29th or whatever it was. Uh so that’s five hauls and it was $488 something
blah blah blah. And so that means less than $100 a month for three adults I picked up per week.
Yeah. Per week. Uh that’s fair I think. Yeah. Not too bad. So yeah, we’re happy. Yeah. All
right. So drop us some comments below and let us know how your hauls are going. Uh, we’d love
to hear that. Any tips and tricks you have, we’d love to hear those in the comments as well. Yeah,
that’s gonna do it today for Saving Money for The Long Run with Joel and Christy. Don’t forget it’s
a Long Run. Give yourself a little grace. bye.
