so we are going to roast some beets so I am going to take the bottoms off of these i’ve already cut the tops off of them beets get very dirty and so when you’re working with beets you have to wash them very very well and wash all the dirt out of them you can see how dirty that water is and you want to keep doing this until the water runs clear and now we’ve got clear water and I’ll show you what we’re going to do here we’re going to go over each beat with olive oil and you can use a generous amount here you can rub it down all over and it’s going to stay in the tin foil because Going to bake in that [Music] pour some lime juice over each of them and that’s going to go in each of these little tin foil bowls we’re going to cover them with salt and you can use a generous amount of salt here because the skins are actually going to come off the beads but you can actually load them up with salt and then you’re going to wrap them up i’m going to pop these beets in the oven you’re going to roast your beets in an oven at 400° for 45 minutes now beets are so incredibly good for you they are loaded with iron they can help lower your blood pressure they’re really good for your heart and cardiovascular system they help improve blood flow and they are loaded with fiber once your beets have cooled down a little bit you’re going to take some paper towels and you’re going to rub the skins off of them with paper towels now your hands are going to get a little bit messy here so be prepared so going back to the health benefits of beets they actually can help the liver detox so if you’re recovering from alcoholism they can help your liver recover they have strong anti-inflammatory properties so they’re great for if you struggle with a lot of inflammation they can help bring down swelling they really are an absolutely wonderful superfood so we are going to use these to make a beet salad
