A Short History of Doner Kebab:
The word “döner” comes from the Turkish verb “dönmek,” which means “to turn” — referring to the turning of the meat on a vertical spit. While meat cooked on skewers has existed for thousands of years, the modern-style vertically roasted doner is believed to have originated in the 19th century in Bursa, Turkey. It quickly became popular throughout the Ottoman Empire, especially for its rich flavour, tender texture, and versatility. Today, variations of doner kebab can be found all over the world, from Germany to the Middle East — but nothing quite compares to the original Turkish version.

Hello friends We have 1 kg frozen beef Place it in the refrigerator a day before. Let’s cut into thin slices Today we are going to make meat doner kabab . We will make this without doner grill, only in a pan. We will feel a legendary flavour as if it were cooked over a wooden fire. Fat ratio is very low as you can see With our cooking technique, it will be both
tender and packed with famous doner flavour. Slicing the meat into thin sheets is the
most important steps of making doner. The meat is not fully thawed yes still slightly frozen. It needs to be cut at exactly this consistency. It should be softened but not completely thawed. But remember don’t try to make it too thin.
It doesn’t need to be paper-thin. This is the shape the meat should be. Not to thick nor too thin. It takes both patience and wrist strength but the result is amazing. We have boiling water in cooking pan. Don’t forget to leave a like for the effort. Let’s add beef slices into boiling water. If you haven’t subscribed yet, subscribe now and turn on the notification bell. So you will be the first to know about new videos on my channel. Remember not to use cold water for boiling. Cold water toughens the meat and ruins its flavour. Let it boil until it is 90 % done. Let’s remove the skim to obtain a cleaner flavour We have 4 potatoes. Let’s cut into fries. Our beef is 90 per cent cooked. Lets take out beef and discard water. Let’s add the cooked beef in another wok pan. Let’s add small amount of butter just for aroma. Our focus at this stage is to slightly sear the outside of the meat. Let it cook on a medium flame. I added a few pieces of whole garlicc while boiling. Optional if you want to add. Let’s give it a nice golden colour I stir the meat thoroughly a few times for almost 10 minutes. Our beef has a beautiful golden colour. Let’s add a small amount of hot water into a pan Just to create steam not to boil the meat. The key here: the water should form a thin layer at the bottom of the pan. Let’s add spices. 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper powder 1 teaspoon of curry powder, 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder,
1 teaspoon of cumin powder and one teaspoon of ginger powder Let it cook on a low flame so the spices will not be burnt. When spices are mixed properly and water is dry. Let’s add 400 ml of more water. to make it more tender and juicy. Cover it and let it cook until the water is dry. Let’s prepare salad for our beef doner. Our salad is ready. Potatoes are going to be done. Ready to eat now. Let’s assemble our beef doner kabab dish. You can squeeze lemon all over the beef if you like. Let’s sprinkle some sumac Our delicious food is ready to serve. I hope you will try this authentic doner kabab recipe. Thank you for your time. Bye friends.
