This small Highland Park market is a cute place to get lunch or stock up on picnic supplies. There are shelves of essentials (and by essentials we mean fancy potato chips, wine, and candy). There’s a counter that serves a selection of satisfying sandwiches and decent coffee drinks. And in the back, there’s an ice cream shop with fruity soft serve. Though a couple of the sandwiches don’t quite hit the mark (looking at you, oily Italian sub), the shady patio out front is a pleasant place to nibble on a couple of snacks and chill out for a bit.

The cold cuts are sliced appropriately thin and there are nice shreds of pepperoncini. But the sandwich trends oily and the bun gets soggy—it isn’t up to the task of keeping the oil in check.

Emerald City

Here’s a tasty and tidy turkey sandwich with a light smear of pesto. The toasted stecca bun also gives the thing some crackle, while a chile vinaigrette keeps you on your toes.

Country Deli Club

If you are a “big meaty sub” kind of person, this is the one for you—the ham and turkey are piled high and get along well with all the toppings. There’s a little too much cheese, though, which gums up the works.

Ice Cream

Highland Park’s dessert stand called Tip Top makes tasty New Zealand-ice cream—frozen fruit that gets blended with scoops in a machine, resulting in nicely tart soft serve with firm ridges. Get the raspberry with some sprinkles on top.
