I don’t know who needs to hear this, but fried calamari at home? It’s easier than you think and way cheaper than ordering out. When I want to bring that seafood restaurant energy to my own kitchen without dropping $20 on an appetizer, this recipe delivers every time. The calamari rings come out perfectly crispy and golden. Serve them hot with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce for a crowd pleasing appetizer that tastes straight out of a restaurant.

Name an appetizer better than crispy fried calamari. I’ll wait. Drain the calamarie. Add the calamari to a mixing bowl. Cover with buttermilk, some lemon juice. Mix it around a bit. And this is going to tenderize it and get that fishy taste out. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. To another bowl, we’re going to add flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and fresh cracked black pepper. Give it a mix. Shake off any excess buttermilk and then toss it in the flour mixture. I like to take the calamari and put it in a strainer like this and shake off any of the excess flour. Add to some hot oil and fry in batches for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove and let it drain on some paper towel.

  1. I think people can eat what they like… I don't like calamari. So, for me it's Blooming onions ❤
