I know. I’m gonna be 30 this year and never made them. My dad does all the cooking and grilling and they always turn out great. But our grill is currently broken so I had to use a pan. I also forgot to buy buns 😑

Overall, they turned out slightly overdone I’d wager, mainly on the bottom. I think I used too high heat from the get go (using a convection oven/stovetop. I sprinkled paprika on both sides and then added cheese afterwards. I guess I’d personally give them a 3/5

that is one of the burgers of all time.

    i’d eat it.

good first attempt, a bit too done on the inside for my taste but that’s me being biased since I like mine cooked medium well.

You’ll get the hang of it. Little overdone is better than underdone.

Good god mate, 3,5 min per side is all it takes but we all have to start from somewhere

Not bad at all for a first attempt. With a little effort, they will only get better.

👍👍 keep it up. No salt added?

For thick burgers in a pan, I sear them a little on each side then throw them in the oven at like 400 F until done. Almost like a steak. Works pretty good for me to avoid over cooking the outsides to get the middle cooked through.

Best pan idea is to treat it like a steak. Sear both sides on high heat then throw it in a 400 oven for a few minutes

Not a bad attempt! A little less cooking time and salt would make these great.

    If that’s a non-stick pan you’re making a mistake. Can’t tell from picture.

Some of the best burgers I ever made were in a pan with some butter. Squirrels ate through the propane tank hose so the grill wasn’t an option.

  12. Nothing wrong with a pan, I did for years. Use cast iron if you can. That looks a little too done to me, not sure if it was dry. One thing that is critical is the meat should be 80/20. 20 being the percentage of fat. If you go 90/10 it is never as juicy.

Invest in a good cast iron pan and season it very well, medium to low heat salt and pepper. Start from there good luck.

Honestly, not bad. As a way to cut back on calories I’ll make a couple burgers with cheese, cooked onions, with no bread and add mustard. Pro tip: add salt & peppers to both sides of the patty. Instantly elevates the flavors.

Pan burgers are technically the best burger just like a steak since it holds moisture and gets a better sear. 🤷 I dont make the rules

Most common cause of being just slightly overcooked is throwing cheese on too late. Practice makes perfect and this is a good start to a pan burger.

Looks a bit overdone, but also I would probably tear into it once I saw that melty cheese and not realize it was dry until after I dvoured it.

No problem in using high heat. The problem is cooking time. Hi heat gives a nice sear. Too much, and you get well done results. You will do much better during your next try. Enjoy learning. It’s fun

I’d eat, if not for the non stick pan

The fork and knife approach- we are the rare ones

  21. FreyaLavee

Looks almost perfect to me. Medium rare or well done, just enjoy them. Small tip: press the patty with your fingers on the middle a bit before cooking it because when you sear it, it shrinks and tends to lose its initial shape. ❤️

In addition to the buns you mentioned, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, pickles…..

Nice! Consider getting s meat thermometer they’re cheap and will take all the guesstimation out of cooking meat.
