One night later in August will shine a new light on revered French-American restaurant Café Boulud at the Brazilian Court.
The 22-year-old restaurant — which this summer has augmented its French-inspired menus with one celebrating France’s Côte d’Azur — is set to feature “A Night in Italy” on Aug. 22.
The event is part of Café Boulud’s ongoing wine-dinner series, but this wine dinner is “more immersive,” Café Boulud officials said.
Five wine-paired regional Italian courses will be served instead of four, which typically is the blueprint for the restaurant’s wine dinners.
Executive chef Christopher Zabita, who previously has excelled at other famed Boulud venues as well as Italian restaurants, has planned a regional Italian-inspired menu with head pastry chef Rosana Quintero and sommelier David Sauer, a key player at Café Boulud wine dinners.
The event is in partnership with RC Wine Co., which specializes in Italian wines.
The wine-paired menu will include gnocco fritto (an Emilia-Romagna fried-dough dish not to be confused with gnocchi) served with prosciutto di Parma, stracciatella, caviar and onion marmalade; and carpaccio di porchetta with Parmigiano Reggiano, arugula and ’nduja sauce.
Cannelloni will be served with roasted chanterelles, black truffle and ricotta salata; and beef sirloin will be served with crispy polenta, blueberry and gorgonzola crema.
Spiced chocolate soufflé with candied cherries and white chocolate ice cream will be the featured dessert.
“A Night in Italy” on Aug. 22 is $195 a person (plus tax and gratuity).
