One catches the ash so you can dump it out when full, one lets it blow around everywhere 🙂

The ash catcher is a game changer. People have hacks for the other but I wouldn’t buy the base model. Ash catcher for life

You want the ash catcher. It’s more expensive and worth every penny

My experience is that without the ash catcher, there is some amount of hot ashes that might fall out and blow out of the bottom where it could potentially start something on fire. It also keeps things tidy by collecting all the ashes in a container that won’t blow around.

They’re both ash catchers, one is a more elegant solution.

Ash catchers are a game changer. So much better and so much more convenient. The only time a pile of ash is floating around is because it’s my fault.

I have the first one. Was cooking up some ribs on the deck in a strong wind. Piece of charcoal came out, wind blew it to edge of my deck where it got stuck between a joist and a deck board. Came outside to check the ribs and my deck was on fire. Super close call. Could have burned my house down. Only bbq on the green grass now.

I have the base model and have never had an issue. I usually have my grill set up in my driveway, so maybe that’s why I don’t care
