Everyone is familiar with a popular restaurant in Norris City and Grayville, which is known for its delicious Italian cuisine. Luckily for Carmians, they have decided to expand and take up residence in town at 403 North Fourth Street.
A great Italian taste in a hometown place, Mimmo’s has been a staple of Italian food in Norris City since 2009 and has slowly expanded over time to other locations around Southern Illinois.
Aaron Summers, along with Manager Jeremy Carmickle, were eager to get their start in Carmi. The location on Fourth Street isn’t ideal, but Summers is not worried about that,
“Doing take-out and delivery, I don’t feel like it really matters where you’re at. As long as you put out good food, it should be fine. It was just the only building available. It was a pizza place for a long time, like way back in the 60s and 70s, and I was able to turn it into one.”
Carmi already has a selection of pizza places, such as hometown favorite DiMaggio’s, Pizza Hut, Huck’s, and Casey’s. Summers isn’t worried about building up Mimmo’s name in Carmi. Mimmo’s created its popularity by putting out great-tasting food, as well as a friendly and welcoming environment.
“A huge percentage of our business in Norris City is from Carmi, so it was just a matter of time, it’s been a goal of mine for a number of years and it just finally worked out.”
Many people have walked in or called to show their support during their soft opening on Wednesday. With the Carmi location, it will only be pick-up or delivery. Dine-in might be a possible plan further down the road. They do cater for special events, no matter the size of the attendance.
Currently, you can call Carmi Mimmo’s at 618-383-6627 every day of the week from 4 pm to 10 pm. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, they are open until 11 pm. This convenient schedule ensures that you can enjoy Mimmo’s delicious Italian cuisine at a time that suits you best.
