An Italian restaurant in Lawrenceville is shuttering its doors after more than four decades of serving the community.
Enzo’s La Piccola Cucina, at 1906 Princeton Ave., will close permanently due to the high cost of goods and staffing issues. The restaurant shared news of the closure via social media.
“Sharing meals with you and your loved ones across three, even four generations, has given us priceless memories we will always treasure. However, considering the ever-changing world — costs of goods and staffing on the rise, and so much more —, we have had to make a difficult decision. To uphold the quality and standards you’ve always expected, we believe the time has come for Enzo’s La Piccola Cucina to close its doors,” Rita and Anna, the current owners, said.
A Patch of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, report noted that the restaurant first opened in 1983 and served Italian dishes in the style of Italian grandmother food. The establishment’s namesake, Enzo, would often greet guests dining at the restaurant. The business eventually became a vital part of the community.
A final closing date has not been announced, but patrons are encouraged to visit the restaurant for one last meal and to say goodbye.
“As Mom and I step into retirement, we do so with immense gratitude and fondness for each and every one of you who made these years unforgettable. Thank you for your loyalty, your laughter, and your love. Though all good things must come to an end, the memories we created together will live on,” the owners said.
“I can’t say I’m not disappointed! From dinners, lunch, birthdays, anniversaries, engagement parties, Christmas parties, you were always the GO TO place,” one customer wrote. “To say we will miss Enzo’s and especially the food is a huge understatement.”
