Smokey Yoghurt Chicken – A perfect blend of spices, creamy yogurt, and smoky aroma that makes your chicken irresistibly delicious! Try this easy, flavorful recipe at home and enjoy a restaurant-style dish!

πŸ“ Ingredients:

For Chicken:

Chicken – 1 kg
Tomato – 1 (peeled and chopped)
Onion – 1 (chopped)
Garlic cloves – 6
Ginger – 2 small pieces
Yogurt – 1 cup (packed)
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Chilli flakes – 1 tsp
Salt – 1 tsp (or to taste)
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – Β½ tsp
Whole black pepper – Β½ tsp
Green cardamoms – 4
Cinnamon stick – 1
Oil – Β½ cup

For Garnishing:

Onion – 1 large, sliced into rings
Green chillies – 4, crushed
Fresh coriander – 2 tbsp, chopped
Mint leaves – 1 tbsp, chopped
Extra yogurt – a few spoons for topping (optional)
Charcoal – 1 piece (for smoke)

1. Prepare Masala Paste:

Heat Β½ cup oil in a pan.

Add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cardamoms, and whole black pepper.

SautΓ©, then add onion, garlic, ginger, and tomato. Cook until soft.

Blend this mixture with chilli flakes, coriander seeds, and Β½ cup yogurt into a smooth paste.

2. Cook Chicken:

In the same oil, add chicken and fry until the color changes.

Add the prepared paste, then mix in red chilli powder, salt, and turmeric.

Cover and cook on medium to low flame for 10 minutes or until chicken is fully cooked and tender.

Remove the excess oil from the top if needed.

3. Garnish & Smoke:

Dish out and garnish with onion rings, crushed green chillies, fresh coriander, and mint leaves.

Drizzle some yogurt if desired.

Heat a charcoal piece, place it on foil in the center of the dish, add a few drops of oil, and cover immediately to trap the smoke for 2–3 minutes.

Remove coal and serve hot!
